Absolutely, I also have three small children and am fighting this. Keep you head high, positive thoughts and most of all keep your faith. Prayer can change anything and our heavenly father is the best healer ever. I have been told by several cancer patients to take Apricot seeds, they have been making a hugh difference in cancer patients worldwide. Check out www.apricotpower.com and read some of the success stories. I have been eating 6 a day and my cancer is gone for now. Now I know that is was'nt only the seeds b/c I have had 3 sessions of radioactive iodine too, but apricot seeds have the natural B17 vitamin that has been proved to fight cancer. They are very cheap and aren't bad to take at all. Anything to help...also, what state are you in? I am in NC and there is a specialist here in Winston Salem that only treats thyroid cancer. He comes highly recommended and I am told is the best in the world. He is not like other oncologist that treat all sorts of cancer. He only treats thyroid...I would be glad to pass along his name and info if it is something you are interested in. I don't know how far away you are since we are talking on the world wide web, but let me know. I am told his success rate is like 99%. I was going to see him if my last scan did'nt come up clean. Let me know, I will be praying for you...

hi i just turned 22 years old, and i recently found out that i had thyroid cancer.. i had a total thyroidectamy just a few weeks ago and soon i will be having the radio iodine treatment too. i thought i was clear of the cancer but when they did the surgery they took some lymph nodes out and now ive found out that it has just spread to the lymph nodes too. im really worried that its spreading fast. how fast can the cancer spread? a few weeks after my surgery my neck has started to feel fine, in regards to the inner and outer pain. but now ive started to experience this weird feeling inside my neck and it would happen randomly throughout the day, its more of a shooting pain or feeling of weird sensation inside my neck. has anyone experienced this, if so please let me know and share your experiences. its really hard to talk to someone who has no idea whats really going on :( the doctors say that if anyone could choose a cancer to have everyone would go for thyroid cancer because it has the best outcome for cure and results. so chin up people and lets try not to get too worried although i know its very hard to when you hear the word cancer. hope everyone is cure of their cancer soon.

my mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer/papillary in 1992. Under went thyroid surgery followed by radioactive iodine. All seemed to be ok for short time. Through blood work and scans they found that it had spread to her neck. another dose of iodine was then given to her. was not successful. To make a long story short, I read your post and it was so much what my mom's story. In the past 20 years she has had 4 surgeries in the neck region, and 4 radioactive iodine treatments. About 10 years ago the found that it had spread to her lungs. They finally figured out that radioactive iodine was not being absorbed into the cells. As far as her neck region the decided to try radiation. She went through 2 separate treatments of radiation treatments. Her neck regions has come up clean past 6-7 years and to this day it remains clear. It is the tumors in her lungs that we are dealing with at this point. The point that I am making is that radioactive iodine DOES NOT work for everyone. They have come along way with the treatment of radiation. You have every right to be upset, and there is no doctor that can predict time. Now days people need to be more aggressive with their health and question their Dr. I have no way of knowing your total situation, and what is available in your area. I am not a Dr., I am a daughter that has watched what thyroid cancer has done to my mom, and if there was a way to go back 20 years, I would have questioned after 2 time of iodine treatment, what would make them think it would work 3 or 4th time, and what could be another possible treatment plan. If they could not offer one I would search for another Dr. that may have a back up plan with a better bedside manner. You have gone through so much at such a young age, an my heart goes out to you. Keep fighting, life is worth the fight. will keep you in my prayers.

Radioactive Iodine has been proven to work on many people, but not work on all.

My Mom was in a clinical trial phase III for past year and a half. The drug was called Sorabenib. This drug has been approved for liver and kidney cancer. The side effects has taken a toll on her body, and just last week was released from trial. As of now she is not taking any med that involves the issues with her lungs at this time. Will be going back in month for CAT Scan and eval.

My daughter was just diagnosed  yesterday with thyroid cancer.  We are planning a total thyroidectomy November 6th.  She is in 3rd year law school and is getting married January 5th.  It is papillary follicular cancer as far as the biopsy tells us, but understand it could change.  I am feeling confident with our doctors at UM sylvester cancer center and think she will recover .

Don't know what to expect

This scientific article resulted from study by the National Academy of Science, who works for the National Institute of Health, who works for the FDA. Learn there that the quantities of IV ascorbate (neutralized ascorbic acid) needed are MUCH higher than ever thought before (because vitamin C is a very weak antioxidant), and can be assimilated, and must be held in the system for many hours through slow IV drip in order to do their work. Read other articles there and learn how ascorbates enhance the effectiveness of other chemos.

Hi srodg274....hang in there. Also my son had Papillary/follicular thyroid cancer. He is now 23 had the surgery when he was 16 he is doing great. After his surgery they found it had spread to his lungs and Lymph nodes but this cancer is highly treatable. He had 2 treatments of radioactive iodine, and had no reoccurrence. WE are very thankful to the skillful hands of our surgeon who got as much of the cancer out as he could. Removing the whole thyroid and many lymph nodes. Keep strong your daughter will be fine!! But she must take her time to get well it is an adjustment living with out a thyroid.

Hi Lauren. I just had a total thyroidectomy in August, and underwent RAI about 3 weeks ago. At this point, I have no taste, my nose bleeds daily, and I have daily rectal bleeding which all started a week after the radioactive Iodine. I met with my endocrinologist and he said the results are great, just an area in my abdomen where the scan showed iodine. I was looking at him like "what do do mean great???" He claims it could be some of the iodine remained because of the location in the stomach where it showed was an area of common entrapment. I am concerned too because he claims there's nothing to do till april once new bloodwork and a new scan are repeated. I don't know if I should go see a gastroenterologist instead. please tell me how they confirmed that it is actually thyroid cancer in your stomach instead of just a pocket of iodine that was trapped there?

Sorry, meant to refer you to relevant article on FDA's library (PubMed) on their discovery that large quantities of vitamin C (intravenous) kill cancer cells.

Also, look up lypospheric vitamin C, a form with 10X the efficacy of regular vitamin C.

Also, find the book "Iodine" by Dr. Brownstein. Very informative on this cancer subject.
