I had total thyroidectomy on Friday, but I’ve only now found out that none of my lymph nearby nodes were removed, not even for them to be biopsied later as I subsequently found online was common practice to make sure that cancer hasn’t spread. I called my surgeon to ask about this, but all he said is that none of them were enlarged and that we’ll see after I recover what the next step will be. But I’m still not convinced if it would be better that at least one lymph node was taken out and biopsied before I even have to consider radioactive iodine treatment, simply because I’d know did the cancer spread or not.

thanks for any advice
