This all sounds so awful. I just wanted to post that I had my Mirena placed six weeks after my second child and have been relatively symptom-free. Sex life is good, periods are light, I feel it was a good decision for me. Maybe once or twice a year I get a couple days of deep depression, or a week of morning sickness, but it's so rare, it usually takes awhile to remember it's probably my hormonal birth control. So it's not perfect, but I've been satisfied with the relative easiness of it. This last round of morning sickness was such a surprise I actually took a pregnancy test!

I just had the Mirena inserted 4 days ago and have been feeling extremely nauseated ever since.  I'm wondering if this is normal and if it is going to go away.  Right now I just want to have them take it out because I don't want to continue feeling so sick.
Please somebody tell me if and when the nausea will go away!!!

I just had my IUD taken out today because I have been dealing with being so nauseous (almost at the point of throwing up) after having it put in. I had a baby 9 months ago and I've seen my doctor and a GI dr and had an endo test done and all sorts of blood work that have all came back normal. No sign of acid reflux. My last resort was to take the IUD out to see if it helps.

I had my mirena put in around Feb and over the past month I have had severe nausea, dry heaving, loss of appetite, high potassium levels. I have had tons of blood work and GI tests with no answers.  Also have noticed a significant increase in anxiety and nervousness since getting the mirena.  Got migraines for several weeks in a row, then the severe nausea and dry heaving started, worse in the morning, almost like I was pregnant. I decided today to have the IUD removed after reading many of these posts I am wondering if this is the cause.  Would like to know if anyone who has had their mirena removed has seen an improvement in these symptoms???

I'm on year 2 of having Mirena. I've had numerous issues with it, but still stand by it. I bled for the first three weeks after insertion. I constantly get BV, which I NEVER got before Mirena, I gain and lose weight like I have one of this air plugs on blow up things. Year 2 I have started to have severe acne as well as this week has started a nasty battle with nausea and serious loss of appetite. I can't ride in a car for longer then 20 minutes without immediately vomiting after I get out of the car or eat more then a tennis ball sized meal without having the same result. One thing I am happy for is it has made me stop smoking. This past week I was so disgusted with the nausea that I smoke and cigarettes made it worse. They stink now to me. I also can't hold alcohol as I feel like I'm drinking gasoline and it makes me severely. I can't have high fiber foods, since I've had mirena inserted, as they cause severe constipation and gas problems that gas aides do not work for. I wouldn't take my mirena out though. I love the security I have with it as well as it helps me make better decisions in life. The only thing I pray for is not to be in the 1%

I was in the ER less than an hour after I had my IUD placed. Although they removed it just a few hours later, it kept me in the hospital for a week with nausea.
I lost over 15 lbs, and weigh only just over 100 lbs, so this was a good deal of weight for me. I could not keep down water for a week. And then suddenly, a week later, I was better.
I am curious about a possible connection to early sexual trauma. I spent two weeks in the hospital when I was 8 with this same mystery illness (EXACTLY the same).
It was so debilitating that I could never forget the feeling.
When I had the IUD removed in the hospital, I felt immediately that it was the sensation of this foreign object in my uterus that made me violently ill.
I do not recall the events that preceded this illness when I was a child, although I have always suspected that I was sexually abused as a child. But there is no doubt in my mind that it was the feeling of something in my uterus that put me in the hospital with the IUD placement.

Hi, I had a lot of nause, fatigue, weakness, headaches even throat issues.  I thought I was going to die and actually went to the ER.  I spoke with my gynecologist and she suggested I speak with my primary care doctor about my symptoms.  It turns out I had developed a stomach ulcer from all the pain medication!  I was being careful eating and drinking a lot with every meal, but for some reason I still developed one.  I did not realize a stomach ulcer could have so many side effects.  The final clue was the development of stomach pain a few days later, although not every one experiences stomach pain.  Everyone is different and their body can have very strange reactions to same illness.  I'm just throwing this out there in case it helps anyone.  I was so scared before I discovered what was wrong with me.

I, too, had my IUD put in yesterday.  This afternoon, I was overwhelmed at a very quick onset of nausea and my hands started to tremble.  I thought it was because I had only a bagel and a cup of coffee all day.  So I ate some food.  The shaking subsided as well as the nausea... but now it's back (nausea) after just a couple of hours.... Hope it passes soon.
