I am new here... and was wanting some advise on symptoms I have now that I have quit smoking. No where can I find anything that touches the topic. I have this knot in my throat and it feels like I have something caught, best way to describe it is like a hair ball in my throat. I don't know if this is related to me stopping the smoking habit or not. I have been smoke free for a week now. Just went cold turkey...don't really advise this method as he has been very hard and I can see how people give into the urge to smoke just one more. Another sensation I have had is a sensitive mouth. I feels like my mouth is raw, or over sensitive. Like I said this has been going on for a week, but I know that bronchitis and the flu have been going around like crazy. Final symptom is insomia...I just can't sleep no matter how tired I am or if I take OTC sleep aid. If someone could just tell me this is normal I wouldn't worry so much, or if I just knew I had to go to doctor it would ease my mind.

In my work I have heard a lot of people talk about the things they have gone through while quitting. Rest assured what you are dealing with is related to the stress of the conflict of your subconscious wanting the expected cigarette, and your conscious employing "will power" to avert the next smoke.
As you continue smoke free this will ease and eventually disappear.
Congratulations on becoming a nonsmoker!
