it is big problem that your son is overseas but I believe wherever he is that they have doctor for sure. If he is having troubles with his urinary tract than he shouldn’t be waiting. Usually the most diagnosed is urinary tract infection and this condition is easy to treat but if it is left untreated it can cause some serious complications like kidney infection which can damage the kidneys permanently.
Also if at the moment there is nothing he can do he could try to drink a lot of fluids (water and lemonade) and maybe some green and red tea. This will help to wash out the bacteria but it will not resolve problems with urinary tract infection.
