Last year I was bleeding heavily for 3 months straight. I got an uterine ablation done. The bleeding stopped just one month, and then I had heavy periods again for the next 4 months, but at least they didn't last longer than 7 days each time. Then had 4 months no period at all, and just now the bleeding started again and it didn't stop. I am bleeding now 3 weeks nonstop. Not heavily, but anyway. enough to get annoyed by it. I am kind of tired going through an ablation again with such bad results, and a hysterectomy is for me totally out of questions. Is the only way to suffer through this? I don't know. But I hear your frustration. It surely is annoying!

i'm 18 years old, I was on the birth control pill and then switched to the depoprovera shot. I only had one shot because I had bad side effects. I started to bleed heavily and didn't stop for almost 4 months now. I had exams done and nothing seems to be wrong, I was prescribed progesterone to take for 10 days and It did not do anything. I am very tired of this!

I am having similar symptoms too, I have had heavy periods and been anemic for years I am 48 have been tested and not yet in menopause or perimenopause, went to my doctor last year and he gave me a depo provera shot to stop the periods for 3 months, the complete oppostite happened and I started to bleed heavily non stop, saw a gyn and was tested for cancer which was negative, he did find a cyst and a fybroids but said that they were too small to be responsible for the bleeding, eventually I had a D&C and thermal ablation to remove the lining of the uterus at this point I had been bleeding for 5 months after the surgery the bleeding stopped for 6 weeks then started up again and I have now been bleeding for 3 weeks, even though supposedly the surgery was a success and I have no lining in my uterus to be able to shed the blood so where is it coming from? It started fairly light and I thought maybe it was my body settling down but its now super plus tampon and overnight pad for back up every couple of hours, the blood is bright red like fresh blood not like 'period' blood, I am so anemic again afraid to drive as I am so dizzy and can't concentrate, I have an appointment with gyn next week but am assuming he will suggest hysterectomy but I feel this will cure the syptom but not necessarily the cause, obviously there are more of us out there suffering in the same way somebody please help!

The cause is a progesterone/estrogen imbalance. Look this up for more information. I like a site by Dr. Susan Lark. The primary reason so many women today have bleeding issues is the chemicals we put in our foods and our extra weight. To take care of this the natural way is difficult because you cannot eat processed foods, sugar, etc. My problems started 4 years ago. I had test recommended by the doctor to rule out cancer. The diagnosis was fibroids and thickened endometrium. I did 4 things that resulted in my body eliminating a rather large fibroid mass. Then my periods where normal for 3 years. Now I have problems again because I went back to my old way of eating. What I did. 1) I took progesterone pills prescribed by my doctor and the bleeding stopped. 2) I took iron and vitamins, but I also started taking several herbs like Vitex and Milk Thistle (again, look this up as herbs can be dangerous). 3) I went to a chiropractor for an energy balance. For the most part they just did massage on my abdomen and this time I will massage myself. 4) The step that may have had the most benefit was doing a caster oil pack on my abdomen. Don't do this when bleeding because heat makes you bleed more. Get a white piece of fabric linen (1 yd square) and fold until it is about 6" x 8". Soak in caster oil ($3). Be aware that Caster oil stains. Get an older blanket, heating pad, and piece of plastic just bigger than the linen. Put the blanket on your bed and lie down. Put the caster oil soaked linen on your abdomen, cover it with the plastic, then the heating pad, then wrap the blanket around you. Lay for 2 hours. I had the best sleep ever the first two times. If I do this at night, i.e. for more than 2 hours, I turn off the heating pad before I fall asleep. When you get up, wash using baking soda to get the oil off. I keep the linen in a plastic container in the frig so I can use it over and over by only adding a little new caster oil. Do this at most 3 times a week.

Yes ladies, you are not alone on this one. My last period was 2/18/13, well I didn't have one for a month. NOW,,,,,Since the last week of march and at present I have been bleeding, off and on, with slight cramps, and a headache. I have been diagnosed three years ago with fibroids (non cancerous). But now it seems like I have to CONSTANTLY WEAR sanitary protection. And it is so weird. Along with headache, fatigue, I was also diagnosed anemic. So I am still on iron meds, but this is some weird stuff. I been bleeding for awhile, so I can tell when I am about to have an "accident" when I get a little light headed, and slight headache. I rush to the bathroom.  I am hoping it will stop soon, and let nature take its course, or go to the doctor and have them throw pills and hrt shots at me. So not looking forward to that. I am scheduled to see my obgyn, but, I think she told me about getting HRT shots once a month, or go under the knife. I just don't even want to think about that....makes me cringe....So chin up ladies, I am going to stay positive, and try to figure out how to get around this...some how...... some way.8-|

I've been spotting off and on now since April 1.  Stopped for two weeks, then boom---back again! Now I'm spotting like mad, then flowing for a few days, then back to spotting. It's exhausting. I can't wait for menopause. Bring on the hot flashes. Perimeno is hell and very few doctors know how to handle it. My thyroid is off, too, and they just upped my dosage of Synthroid. Hopefully, that will bring my hormones back under control. I would suggest a good thyroid check if you're having irregular or extended bleeding as the thyroid can affect your cycles.

Hi... I am 52 years old and started having prolonged periods last Sept.... These lasted 2 months. Stopped for 1 1/2

My GYN did blood work up and due to vaginal dryness, brittle hair, depression, emotional distress and loss of libido talked me into hormone pellets.  Let me add I still have uterus and Fallopian tubes... Always had somewhat heavy periods lasting 6-8 days every 28 days Kline clockwork .  GYN ordered intravaginal ultrasound all was normal.... I had no bleeding for about 6 wks then it began again on June 10 sand today is Aug 12 and it has not stopped... I was told to take Prometrium 100 mgs and it would eventually stop it... It hasn't... I increased it to 200mgs... nothing.  In the last 3 was, I have tried 300 mgs... With a slowing for about a day starts right back up... Bleeding goes from bright red to dark red and am passing fibrous tissue at times... A month ago the tissues were huge!!! I've not experienced any pain but a headache and mild cramping from time time.... My dr had his license temporarily revoked by our state medical board... His nurses and a colleague are trying to manage while he fights the allegations.  There is only one more hormone specialist in our town and everyone I've talked to said she has horrible bedside manner and very condescending.  I am at a loss about what to do... I feel hung out to dry so to speak..... Oh I have hormonal pellets of 25mg of estrogen and 50 imp testosterone implanted every 4 months....  I am depressed. I cry at the drop of a hat.  I feel numb to anything and everything around me... Any one else been in this place before?

i HAVE BEEN HAVING PROLONGED BLEEDING PROBLEMS FOR A LONG TIME. YEARS! IM 51 AND HAVE HAD NO CHILDREN OR PREGNANCIES. I HAD STOPPED BLEEDING RECENTLY FOR 3 TO 4 MONTHS AND WAS HAVING HOT FLASHES AND THEN THE HOT FLASHES STOPPED AND THE BLEEDING CREPT IN ONCE AGAIN. I JUST NEVER STOP. IT GOES FROM LIGHT TO "OMG" AND I NEED TO RUN TO THE BATHROOM AND DROP A CLOT OR TWO. iVE LEARNED IF I TAKE 3 ADVILS IN THE MORNING WITH MY BREAKFAST IT WILL GET ME THROUGH MY WORK DAY. IM A RECEPTIONIST IN A LOBBY AND IM NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM UNLESS SOMEONE RELEIVES ME WHICH CAN BE BRUTAL IF IM HAVING A SUDDEN ISSUE. IVE HAD A FEW ACCIDENTS IN THE BATHROOM THAT WERE NOT PRETTY. I ALSO TAKE CVS SLO-RELEASE IRON WITH OJ EVERY MORNING AND TRY TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BALANCED DIET. I HAVE NO HEALTH INSURANCE AND A LONG TIME AGO I HAVE GONE TO A FEW GYNOS AND NO ONE SEEMED TO HAVE ANY ANSWERS AND I COULDNT AFFORD TO KEEP GOING AND PAYING AND NOT GETTING ANYWHERE. LATELY, IVE BEEN READING SO MANY BLOGS ABOUT THIS FROM WOMEN WHO ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME AND AND IM APPALLED THAT WE ARE STILL NOWHERE WITH THIS PROBLEM. IVE OPTED TO KEEP TRYING TO RIDE THIS OUT BECAUSE OF MY INSURANCE PROBLEM AND ALSO BECAUSE SO MANY WOMEN HAVE GONE FOR SOME KIND OF TREATMENT AND GOT NOWHERE OR IT WAS MADE WORSE. IM HOPING MY HOT FLASHES COME BACK SO I CAN STOP BLEEDING. THIS REALLY DEBILITATES MY LIFE. I HAVE TO KNOW AND PLAN BATHROOM STRATEGIES EVERYWHERE I GO, I CANT HAVE A BOYFRIEND (SEX), I CANT WEAR A SWIMSUIT OR DO THE BEACH/POOL THING AND IM KEEPING KOTEX IN BUSINESS. i CANT BELEIVE WE ARE IN 2013 AND SO MANY OF US ARE GOING THROUGH THIS AND THERE ARE NO ANSWERS AND VERY LITTLE RELIEF. aLL I CAN SAY TO ALL MY "BLOOD SISTERS" OUT THERE IS IM PRAYING FOR ALL OF US AND TO HANG IN THERE. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. MAYBE SOMEONE WILL COME UP WITH HELP FOR US SOON.
