One month ago I had laproscopic surgery and developed a mild staph infection. Doctor re-opened to allow drainage. It is now 4 weeks later wound is still draining (and smells), doctor said everything "looks fine". the last 2 days I have had severe abdominal and lower back pain, pressure and "crampy" feeling. I do not have a fever (nor have I at any point).
Should they not be doing blood work or another culture to determine how the infection is?
I am a bit skeptical because it took 10 days of crying and begging the doctor to investigate the severe pain I developed a week after the surgery. He looked at the incision then and said everything "looks fine" only to find out that I had staph (on the inside).
