I want to be honest I had a pretty serious opiate problem. Not as serious as most, but it was enough for me to admit that my problem was getting out of control. It all started with a terrible toothache that led to my first prescription of vicodine 4 months ago and never looked back from there. It went from Vicodin, to percecets to Ocycontin. I fell in love with the drugs and felt like nothing could stop me. I remember taking about 5 or 6 percecets at a time and 4 hours later swallowing a 80mg pill of ocycontin. Now I didn't do this dosage everyday but beleive me i did drugs everyday. There wasn't a day that i missed a dosage or didn't think about it. I remember 4th of July weekend and taking 4 vicodin's at a time every 3 hours. My only worry of my drug life was making sure i had enough to continue my abuse...... I also got my drugs by just walking into different doctors offices and complanning about severe pain that wasn't even there. I guess i was a good actor because I always got what I wanted.........then to be honest I discovered this chat site and read all the horrific stories about the withdrawal symptoms. Thats when i said f**k it enough. I HAD ENOUGH. To be honest i just stopped like that because people's stories on here true or not scared the sh*t out of me. I stopped cold turkey, and amazingly enough i had zero withdrawal symptoms. So the very thing that i feared the most never even happend. You can call me lucky or whatever but didn't experience 1 side effect. I was giving a second chance and will never go back to that life style. I only been clean for 4 days, however it doesn't matter, because i will never even look at this sh*t again. Yesterday I had 4 ocycontin 80 mg pills, and about 15 vicodin's seating in my bathroom draw. You know what i did to it. I flushed it down the f*****g toliet. yup over 400 dollars of drugs gone. Yeah i could of sold it, but I don't wish this disease on anyone. The bottom line is you have to be a fighter, and get courage to get yourself off. If i can do it you can too. So good luck to all who is fighting this battle. I feel your pain.

Good for you ant! I have been "clean" for coming up 2 years in September! I didn't have withdrawls, because I had a great doctor that replaced the opiates with another pain drug! Just watch out for certain things OK? Because it is still early days, you MIGHT and I have underlined MIGHT for the fact that you just need to watch out for the main symptoms. So good luck! Oh and try not to flush anything other than the usual down the drain!!! ;-) XD Or there will be a WHOLE lot of very happy fish in the rivers and lakes near you looking like this o.O Good luck and health!

Thanks for the encourgment, and also congrats to you too for being clean for that long. Anyway, just curious what pain medicine did your doc give you so u didn't have the symptoms?...... Also when you say watch out for the main symptoms what do you mean by that. Isn't the withdrawal symptoms come 12-24 hours after you stop the drug? because for me it's been 5 days and no symptoms of anything

I was on Oxycocet and Oxycodone for 3 years I had over 300 of the Percocet a month and over 100 of the Percodan! My doctor put me on Fentanyl patches 1st, they were like water! Then he tried different meds, the best one was Tramacet and Hydro Morphine for breakthrough!

I am talking about itching, shaking, warmth sensitivity, irritability, depression, and anxiety! The anxiety and shaking were the worst for me, but mine was more to do with Opiate Toxicity! But when I hadn't had the pills for a couple of hours I would start shaking! So you could be totally fine, just watch for the anxiety! After 5 days though, it sounds like you've got a handle on it! Which is AWESOME! Some people like yourself don't have too many problems! Can I ask you if you've ever been addicted to anything else in the past? The reason why I ask that is because I have a theory about addictions and how long they last etc. I was an alcoholic before and several people on here have had other addictions, so I wonder if the ability to get off addictive drugs, is easier for people that haven't had addictions in the past!

I think your right about the addiction theory. It is probably easier to stay clean. I have never had any type of addiction to anything in the past. Thanks for your information and good luck to you too
