Hi I been having similar problems with dizziness and ear pain almost everyday for the last six months with throat pain and jaw joint pain and pains going down my throat as well and severe illness without being able to sleep as well. It seems like its worse on the side with the sore throat but I have dizziness and blurry vision as well and aura without the headache like a migraine except without the pain. I have a history of migraines but its so odd i go straight to the nausea and aura but no pain in my head. I have no energy I was doing my masters program I had pnemonia in april and had to be hospitlized for this and I got better then all of the sudden one day I became extremely dizzy and my Heart rate went up and I cuold not breathe very well and numbness came around my mouth and tonque and feet and hands. I had had the ear pain for months prior to this and kept wondering what is wrong with my ears. I recently had an MRI of ears and head and awaiting a result. Possibly the problem lies in the sinus I had a ct scan and I do have sinusitis. I was treated for that but I continue to have ear pain, jaw pain, throat pains shooting down my throat, aura with numbness it could be two separate issues. I am getting a bit better when I am able to rest but the ear problems continue and the dizziness is not as severe. Virus's can cause these inflammatory issues and are caught after a severe illness or upper respiratory illness like pnemonia or bronchisits. I am a nurse and continue research and constulation with my sister who is ICCU nurse specializing in heart problems and she has seen lots of sick patients in her career of 20 years as well. I have seen patients too. I am waiting and just have a feeling nothing will show up in the MRI. I read another blog with other people who have similar problems with a severe headache who take verapmil for the migrraine sympotms and have had success with this medicine for the other sympotms such as aura dizziness headache, nausea, pain ears facial numbness. I have same problem and it comes and goes. I checked with ear dr and dentists and they did their jobs but I think it's more serious that what they think. I pretty sure it is something related to nerves. anyone followed with his/her dr.? pls keep posting

Most pain is in my throat to left side of Adams Apple. Pain travels around to these spots.All started after I had top left all the way in back tooth drilled "very, very, deep". Started to chew only on right side. This is when I thought I had a swollen gland in neck. Comes and goes but mostly is present and very painful. Ibuprofen 800 mg does not help. Heat and cold help somewhat. I think it all has to do with dentist drilling too deep and me chewing on one side for a month. Then when you go to dentist, you sit there with your trap opened wide and this surely doesn't help matters any, too hard on the "Temporomandibular Joint". Doctors just want to send you from one of their brethren to another to spread the wealth.

I think we all have tmj. Mine started with a sore throat. Then sharp pain in my right ear, followed by what feels like fluid in my ear. Now my sore throat is mainly on my right side and I have dizziness. When this all first started 11 weeks ago I was convinced I had cancer. The symptoms are so strange. I am 6 months postpartum and since February I have been clenching my teeth horribly at night. I think it may all be linked to TMJ.

First thing I smoke, I've also been living on a steady diet of soda off and on for the past 6 years or so due to financial problems, I manage to get by with soda, and eat a lot less food, but of course it takes it toll, and I never intended to let it get this bad. All these problems occurred to me recently, although I never feel healthy, this is extra bad. Last 4+ days I have laid in bed almost all day just trying to sleep, wake up every so often with a tooth ache, so I'm always tired and just thought I could rest it away.
Personally I think it is a combination of things, and more simple, and less severe than people are imagining, at the same time, still serious and possibly life threatening, but who is to say we all have the same thing exactly. Tooth ache for me personally, is just that, a tooth ache, caused from tooth decay, caused from drinking too much soda, smoking too much, and falling asleep on occasion without brushing. Also because of the poor diet, I face severe dehydration, which only makes problems worse, and could be big part of tooth decay as well. When the mouth is dehydrated it seems less forgiving than otherwise. All things combined, and based on what I was told when I finally was able to visit a dentist, I believe I have poor blood pressure/circulation which again adds to make matters worse. I also attempted to use a dentist tool to clean stains myself, which wore the enamel, and eventually led to the tooth decay. Trying to compensate for not brushing enough, I may have also brushed too much at times which can also wear the enamel, and cause irritation in the gums, which might cause receding gums, and eventually tooth decay.
Now 2/3 symptoms can easily cause a number of problems, that is dehydration, and poor blood pressure. This puts me at higher risk for heart attack & stroke, especially when taking meds, even over the counter stuff. And dehydration really just opens you up for a whole mess of things, and both can be life threatening. With that being said, if any of you share these poor choices in life style these may have a big role in what is causing the problems. So assuming I've identified the cause, sum it up to poor diet, smoking, drinking too much sugar drinks, not enough water, and not brushing enough (I do now, but for periods I did not).
These are all self inflicted, and the first step to solving this problems is fairly straight forward and obvious. Stop smoking, stop drinking soda, drink 1gal+ of water a day, eat at least 3 square meals a day, eat as healthy as possible, and as often as possible (In small amounts), exercise more often, and get my teeth fixed, which I'm a little sketch on after reading these posts. That should hydrate me enough to allow my body to recover properly, the food will also hydrate me, as well as my mouth itself when eating, and give me nutrients which my body maybe lacking, via nutrient deficiency from not eating right, allow my heart to recover to a normal rate, all of which are going to allow my body to recoup at a much faster rate, and hopefully get back to normal.
The fact is the damage to the teeth has been done, there is no taking that back, although everything else is causing damage to the body, the body will repair itself if the proper steps are taken as mentioned. So as long as I can find a dentist I can afford who can fix them properly, and make the changes mentioned, long term the problems should go away.
In conclusion:

Tooth ache itself is most likely caused by tooth decay, possibly by over-brushing even. Since the problem got bad for me, I have been brushing & using mouthwash more than recommended by far. Because of this my tooth ache went from 1 clearly decaying tooth, to the entire side of the mouth that that tooth was on, and would shift from 1 tooth to the next. I believe this is from irritating the gums via brushing, and overly rinsing with mouthwash. It helps stop the pain in the moment, but also makes it worse long term if you cause damage. I aslo experienced soreness in my throat, from a light tingle to a burning sensation via overuse of mouth wash.
Ear Ache, head ache, sinus problems. All of these can be directly linked to your teeth, but also the dehydration, especially if you're a smoker.
Side note: My father is disabled, and obese, and runs the A/C nearly 24/7. A/C dehydrates the air to cool it down. This also could have played a huge role in everything, dehydrating me on a daily basis, pressure on the ears causing the pain to persist where it might have otherwise died down, dehydrating the mouth while you sleep at night and can't resist breathing through your mouth. Add soda into that and now your mouth is decaying from soda @ an accelerated rate overnight. When my teeth first got bad, it seemed to happen literally overnight in comparison, and was from falling asleep after drinking soda, and not brushing. The A/C could of dehydrated the soda of water, causing it act faster, and there for have a much longer period over the night to decay. Add smoking on top of that, which dehydrates and irritates gums, and also coats your teeth with resin, and that is a quick recipe for tooth decay.
2 things I have noticed, both directly linked to dehydration. 1) When it's hot, things get worse. 2) Cold air on my ears causes ear aches, causes it to persist, and possibly stacks with other problems. Meaning it could be initiating the tooch ache, which could be causing the poor blood pressure to get worse, ect.
Everything is causing everything. It's a vicious cycle. Everything is connected, and making the next symptom worse. Again, dehydration I think is a huge key @ the center of everything, making everything worse, as where some of the other problems might only be relative to some of the other symptoms, dehydration I think is key to all. And if you're dehydrated near the point that I am, this isn't a problem you can fix overnight by drinking some water. My body is dehydrated, there for not running at optimal levels. It takes all of the things mentioned, on a daily basis for a period of time until the body will begin to recover.
Now easy fixes for the symptoms. Keep in mind I'm no doctor, and I'm addressing symptoms, not the actual "illness" or w/e you'd like to label it.
Tooth Ache: Don't brush your teeth FIRST thing in the morning. A lot of times I wake up dehydrated, with sore teeth, and think I should brush my teeth, and rinse with mouth wash. Toothpaste is dehydrating my teeth/mouth, so is mouthwash, it also causes you to salivate which I assume you rinse/spit out, further causing dehydration. If your mouth is dehydrated, plain and simple brushing can be doing more harm than good.
So, eat first. Drink some water (at least 12-20oz) and have breakfast. After that, rinse if you must, but give about 30min+ before you brush. Let your mouth feel hydrated first.
When brushing, use circular motions, I just learned this @ 27 years old. Also be firm, but gentle. Hit the gums first, and extra gentle. This will normally stop bleeding from happening, if gums are that sensitive. Don't brush too hard cause you're in pain. Don't pay extra attention to the sore area's. I have often done this and caused soreness, and have learned to go through the motions as if nothing is wrong. You can give a little extra attention, but do it in short bursts, meaning don't sit their and brush the sore tooth/gum area cause it's bothering you. Brush normal, hit the sore spot for a sec, and repeat.
When brushing tongue, if you use tooth paste on your tongue, you're again dehydrating, make sure to run the toothbrush under the water once the paste is on your tongue. This make it much easier, as you tend to gag less, as it supplies the water needed to salivate where you would otherwise be too dehydrated to.
Mouthwash, use mouthwash with alcohol, it will dehydrate as well, but if you have tooth decay you want to kill any germs, and it will also help with pain relief. Don't chicken out! Rinse until the mouthwash doesn't burn! (Still does a little, but nothing compared to initial burn). Also same rule applies, don't focus on the sore area's and swish back and forth on that one spot. Again it's ok to do it, but only for a sec, then rinse the rest of your mouth before going back to that spot. When you're done, rinse with warm water the first time. This will reignite the burn, but less than the initial burn. Use the warm rinse as if it were mouthwash for about 20+ seconds. Then work you're way down to ice cold, at any rate you see fit. Make sure your teeth can tolerate ice cold water rinse, this will help them be less sensitive to cold.
Important not to drink/eat for 30min, I find it important to keep the mouth closed, and focus on breathing through the nose, this will prevent dehydration of the mouth. I also bend the rules and drink water if I feel I need it. But definitely don't drink sugar drinks or eat anything.
Shower, make sure to shower at least once a day, usually this is the perfect time, kill the 30min you can't eat/drink, and you can rinse/hydrate you're mouth at will, usually feel much more hydrated after a showed, also can relieve the pressure you feel on the ear(s), relax the muscles, and overall just feel fresh and clean.
Don't over-brush, brush once early and once late in the day, same for showers. That's about 2 hours roughly per day dedicated to hygiene. Make sure you do it on a daily basis and don't slack, don't tell yourself it's ok to go without 1 and put it off until the morning, or later in the day. Stick to it, every day, don't scapegoat or excuse yourself from these daily duties.
Exercise, will help everything, blood pressure, your heart, oxygen / to the blood, sweat out toxins, long term makes it harder to become dehydrated (Easier to endure dehydration), and overall is just going to make you feel better and wake up feeling refreshed and alive everyday instead of feeling like c**p every morning. It may be a little work before you reap those benefits but they will come. In reality we should be pushing ourselves to the point of being sore, allowing time to recoup, then doing it all over, all the time, constantly. Our society just has us all lazy, we drive everywhere, a lot of us sit all day at school/work, then plop down the second we get home and hardly pursue any kind of physical exercise. Again, don't over due it, just push yourself a little more each time, if you feel tired or get any kind of pains, take a break, chill, let your body recover, and if you feel up to it, then continue, if not, then call it a day. Also stretch before, and even if you don't exercise, stretch at least, even when you're sore. This will help overall conditioning, coordination, flexibility, and more importantly blood pressure, and oxygen levels.
That's pretty much it, remember a lot of times we get hungry we are actually dehydrated. Try to eat as healthy as possible, and as often as possible. The more small meals we have per day, the faster our metabolism, and the more hydrated our mouth will be through out the day. This will prevent decay that will come via dehydration otherwise, and keep us hydrated all day until we brush at night.
If you have medical/dental, and/or steady income (can afford to do it), take advantage, get check ups, get your blood pressure checked out, they're basically going to tell you the same stuff if they can't find a serious problem (Good diet, hygiene, exercise). And/or use a pharmacy to check your own blood pressure, and monitor your progress while you make these changes.
Few more side notes. Blood Pressure: crossing your legs when you sit/lay, dentist pointed this out to me, didn't even know I did it, but she kept having to tell me to un cross my legs to take my blood pressure, just a bad habit, cuts of circulation. Also mentioned a few times using more than 1 pillow. At the time didn't make sense, but now I think I have some insight. I always sleep in the fetal position, I usually use 2+ pillows, and fold the top one, making it about 3+ pillows. This can easily cause the sore neck, swollen lymph nodes (I think that's right, basically the air/blood passages on side of your neck), which could lead to poor blood/oxygen circulation, which can cause/escalate the aches, and muscle soreness, as well as overall fatigue, and just feeling bad when you wake up / all day. Since the problem went from bad to worse, I can't even turn on my side without my teeth instantly aching, neck instantly hurting, and I can go from feeling ok, to 9/10-10/10 just from turning onto my side, which cranks my neck up, then snowballs into everything else. She recommended sleeping on my back, but I find it almost impossible, even if I do fall asleep, I turn to my side instantly half asleep/asleep. I also tend to lay on at least 1 arm, which usually cuts off the circulation and I wake up with a dead arm.
If you sleep with more than 1 pillow, try managing with only 1. Try sleeping on your back if you can, legs open is possible, allow the blood to flow. Also remember to try breathing through your nose, big deep breathes seemed to help me a lot, and if you can breathe through the nose all night you'll wake up without dry mouth, which should help. If you do sleep on your side, try not to stack pillows like I do, use the minimum support you need. I also notice pressure on the cheek/jaw muscle seems to make it worse instantly, and laying on either side does exactly that.
(I saved this for last, to keep my religious views separate for any of those whom I might turn off instantly the second I mention God.)
For those of you who can't make any of these changes, whether it be from lack of self control, low income, or what ever reason. And even for those who can, and do, all of these things, I hope that you pray, and seek His wisdom. He has the power to heal us in a second if we believe it, let us show faith, even through these hard times, that we may glorify our Father in Heaven. He does not give us anything we can not handle. And the Word of God, IS God, and He, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit our in us, and our body is the temple of He, so let us glorify it, so that we may be a vessel of His works, and glorify His name. I won't quote scriptures but I will tell you there are many which are relevant, to this, and every situation we fave in life. Seek that wisdom, for the wisdom of men will come and pass, but His wisdom is eternal.

Just want to quickly address 2-3 more things.
1) I want to re-assure you all that the problem is tooth related IMO. I base this on my messed up teeth, and although some of you are stating that your teeth aren't messed up, and/or dentist are saying there is no problem, I think it is still a tooth problem. Maybe it's not enough to show up on X-Rays at the dentist (for you guys), but it's probably decay around the gums, I know that's where most of mine is. Via Soda, and/or food getting stuck (or plaque) on the edge around your gums. Soda then can absorb into the food/plaque, which will obviously cause decay. I had 1 tooth (the one in front of the top wisdom) had a small cavity in the middle by the gum line. I snagged it 1 day trying to pick at it with a dentist tool, and chipped it. Since then it has decayed away, perfectly round hole in the middle of that tooth. And has cause decay to spread slowly but surely all around my mouth. Both back wisdom teeth have since chipped, and most of my teeth and visibly decayed around the gum line. Now, the bottom wisdom are fine visibly, yet they have the same pain as the ones that are chipped and jagged messes. So that's why I think the way I do. I easily could of not chipped that tooth, the decay could of possibly remained on that one tooth, and the other teeth wouldn't even be visibly effected by decay, but I would bet I would have the same problems.
2) people are mentioning spasms, I have had spasms of all different types my whole life, and that is surely poor blood pressure, or caused by swollen glands which are preventing the blood from flowing properly. The spasm, although not a good sign, is actually a good thing when you think about it, it's just your muscles getting the required blood/oxygen you need. That also obviously means the blood pressure normally isn't flowing right.
My blood pressure was something like 173 over whatever, pretty sure that's bad. Dentist was taken back by it, and asked to re take it in a few minutes, and when she did it was even worse, like 180 something. Asked if I was nervous or anything, and I was calm. I do have some anxiety at times, but really I think it boils down to poor exercise, smoking, not drinking enough water, or eating the right things, mainly the first 3. Also as I mentioned in the last post, I've some how managed to live off Soda for years, which depletes your bones of calcium, and just isn't good for you and doesn't have any nutrients. I actually heard somewhere that it has the power to alter your DNA, but not sure if that was soda, or diets that use splenda / other sugar alternatives.
Moral to the story, if you can afford it, eat healthier, exercise more, stop smoking if you do, drink 1gal+ water per day, try to get a balance of fruits/veggies/proteins. I really believe long term, all those things will fix everything but the teeth themselves. And that just boils down to finding the right dentist, and having the insurance/money. I'm honestly afraid to go now after hearing everyone, I don't have insurance, it was 2k with, 8k without, I have no money, and no income, so I'd end up with cheap dentist if I can even get to a point to afford that.
For me personally it seems like all tooth ache related pain comes from the gums, around the decayed areas, which makes perfect sense. The tooth is decayed (Jagged like a knife made of bone) yet it is still connected to the gum. The gum gets irritated, inflames into the jagged tooth, which cuts and further irritates the tooth. Eventually, either the gum heals, and/or the tooth decays a little further, rounding off some of the jagged edges that are causing the pain, and the pain is relieved for a period.
And the Aches are all common as far as tooth problems are concerned, if your wisdom are bad, they will ache, cause you ear and head aches, and some times swollen neck, that's all normal so don't trip on any of that. People with bumps that don't go away, that's something worth seeing a doctor for, I think they say any sore in your mouth that lasts over 1-2 weeks you should see a doctor. Not trying to freak anyone out. And I have had my tongue @ the back swell up and just look awful when I was younger, from not brushing my tongue enough.
My main advice would be try to live as normal as possible, don't overdue the brushing. And be careful with brushing/rinsing with mouthwash, and then instantly eating / drinking sugar drinks (Soda especially), as you can wear the enamel by brushing/rinsing, if you eat/drink right away it's going to be worse long term even if it provides short term relief.
Gentle massage on teeth/gums helps sometimes, sometimes makes it worse. Just make sure you are gentle, the pain can make us go overboard real easy when we're trying to get the pain to stop. Also sometimes doing nothing and just enduring the pain for 30min to an hour. Eating a hot dog has been my go to so far it helps for about an hour, I've been on a steady 8 hotdog per day diet last few days =(

I am now in acupuncture but one place that did the acupressure made it worse. My neck is swollen most of the time. To add to the misery I have multiple herniated cervical discs and arthritis in my neck. I was called a hypochondriac as well. People avoid me and asking me how I feel. They don't want to know. My kids make fun of me and I am very stressed out. GOD has the only hand that will help us

Let me first say I chew smokeless tobacco, have for 12 years, and drink lots of soda. I know, I'm asking for any pain I'm getting. Despite my poor life choices, I have managed to be relatively pain free for my entire life (I'm a 30-year-old male). About six weeks ago I had much of my lower left side of my mouth drilled out and filled in. Tobacco and soda will give you lots of tooth decay I guess. It had been a while since I was at the dentist, so I wasn't really surprised. However, about four days after the visit, I started experiencing intense pain in the same spot. I went back to the dentist and they sent me to have a root canal. I had had one before, and was amazed how easy and pain-free both the procedure and recovery was, especially after hearing so many horror stories of root canals. This time is not so easy.
I had the root canal about ten days ago, and while the pain is now different, it is still there. I have been getting headaches and just basic facial pain all throughout my face. It is not crippling or anything, but it is constant. Sometimes it is focused in the back of my head, sometimes in my ear (either ear), sometimes in my high cheekbone, and sometimes in my throat (feels like I have a lump in my throat though I have felt with my hands and don't really feel anything.) I am thinking this is all related to my dental visits, but I am worried it is something worse. I've never had something painful linger for so long, and the pains vary to different spots in my head/face/neck, which is weird to me. I should also mention I'm pretty sure I'm suffering anxiety, which I've been debating for awhile but have decided it's time to get on some meds or something, because it is absolutely paralyzing living in fear all the time. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Hi, about 7 years ago, I was in a similar situation. I was having tooth pain and terrible headaches. So I went to the dentist and he took x-rays of my teeth and found something on the x-ray and said it was not dental related. He told me to go back to my regular doctor. so I did. The doctor asked what I wanted her to do. So I asked if they could do a ct scan. Which she did. They found what they thought was a brain tumor, but turned out to be a Mucocele Cyst in the sphenoid sinus. Since then, I have had 3 more, for a total of 4 mucocele cysts in the sphenoid sinus. They are not sure what is causing them. They say an underlying condition that has not been diagnosed as of yet. So for you ,it could be something with your sinuses. Please check into it. I suffered for 5 years before they found the 1st one.

After reading all these posts, it looks like there is no cure for what I have. For the past several months, I have had pain in my upper and lower left teeth; I cannot tell which tooth bothers me. I also have pain in the left jaw as well as the same side, neck pain.
What bothers me most, is that when I try to sleep, I am wake up with pain. At other times, during the day, I am pain free.
My dentist did not find anything wrong. I have just made an ENT appointment, but am not optimstic.

I needed to have a tooth pulled and now one of my lower back tooth which I had a root canal done a year ago is hurting. It is difficult for me to open my mouth, My right air hurts, like I am ON an airplane, (THE FEELING YOU GET WHEN THE PLANE IS TAKING OFF AND YOU GET THAT PRESSURE IN YOUR EAR.) I am really scared. I went back to the dentist, he took x-ray, nothing is wrong he said. The doctor seem to think it is the tooth that had the root canal done. I am serious thinking about going to the emergency room to see the doctor. Right now I am on pain killers and some bacteria infection medication . l

Teeth killing me sometimes from 15 minutes to 2 hours went to dentist twice x-rays done found nada, zero, zilch, nut'n wrong going to a oral neuoroligist in 3 weeks!!! dentist said to take 3 tylenols and 3 ibuprofen every 8 hours!!! lady was a smart ass!!!! You could go to a naturalpathic dentist they replace silver fillings and can help with tmj it is extremely expenisve but I have tmj and tooth and face pain i get migraines and it is from all my amalg fillings I have not had them removed cuz the cost is about $5000 to redo the fillings the dentist wants to also change my overbite by building up my teeth the dentist is larry hanus of iowa city iowa I want to have it done I just cant afford it but if you can it may solve your problem.
