Painful urination with discoluration. I'm 37 yrs old. On monday (five days ago), I awoke and urinated. When I did, it was extremely painful (felt like needles being thrust out of my urinary tract). The urine was green and stringy. In addition, my pubic region is very itchy - I find myself scratching like a mad dog. I've called in sick this week and drank nothing but water to try to flush this out of my system. My wife thinks I should go to the local clinic and get some antibiotics but I'm trying to avoid paying the big deductible. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

Hi JH,

See your doctor, now.

You have an infection, likely a urinary tract infection but it may also be a prostate infection.  Green is not a good sign nor is the "stringy" matter.

You need treatment, NOW, before it gets worse and harder to treat.  Antibiotics will likely be prescribed.

Call your doctor now.

Good luck.
