My brother is a physician and told me he thought my very painful tongue might be trigeminal neuropathy. However, when I googled that, it talked mostly about tic de la rue (sp) I know for a fact that is not my problem.

He also mentioned herpies simplex, which I have had since I was a small child, but I only got cold sores on my mouth. The pain is quite intense, but there are no sores or bumps on my tongue.

Does anyone know anything about this? Can it be managed with meds?
