Actually yes, that would be what's causing it. The vagina is covered in a mucus membrane. Same as what's in your mouth really; like if you scratch the inside of your mouth, you can sometimes come away with some whitish, wet skin. This can happen too with the vagina, but I wouldn't recommend it.
The bleeding you're describing though is simply the hole in the handle is catching that membrane and the capilaries just nder it are being exposed, causing some light bleeding. I've done that to myself, mad me angry really cause now I need to tone it down a bit for a while.

I don't think you should have done that in the shower. The water will wash the natural lubricant off. And it can hurt the inside of your vaginia. Just stick to natuaral and even some form the store. Also I use the end to a brush like yours (with the circle around the end) and I find myself going to deep. I can feel it going to deep. So I stick to just doing it half way in.
