Hi. I am 15, and my brother is 21 years old. He was diagnosed with photophobia. He can`t stand looking at the bright light. His eyes also hurt a bit when he looks at the Sun. I would like to hear more about photophobia from somebody with experience.

Hi. Photophobia is a common symptom and it could be related to eye problems. Photophobia could be caused by excessive wearing of contact lenses, eye injury, burns to the eye, meningitis, corneal abrasion and ulcer, etc. Some drugs can also be the cause of photophobia (atropine, cocaine, amphetamines, vidarabine, scopolamine, etc). Anyway, the cause is, in most cases, minor, and can be treated easily.
