I have one in particular that pops up only when I eat certain foods--mostly it's those high in processed/refined sugars, breads, hard candies, some fruits will do it too.

I get a small, clear pustule with almost what looks like a tiny blackhead. It hurts like crazy, but only recently have I started poking around with it. I've been getting it for years and it's extremely painful. I'll dry off the bottom of my tongue with a towel and notice that a little bead of saliva will be forming on the other side from where the bump is. I've popped it twice with a needle, a little saliva will come out and the bump and pain will go away. I don't really wanna go digging around in the bottom of my tongue if I don't have to...but maybe next time if I'm bored.

I had the same thing and I doubted the suggested way to remove them...but I am telling you this works! I did the same thing I popped it. Now it is harder than believed. It took me a feww minutes to get it out with my tongue being so slippery. BUT people it comes out. And it looks like a rice crispy. Nasty and bled a bit. ALOT of puss comes out as well. But it works. Also glad to know what it is and why it happened. Thanks for all your help

I hope this gets to everyone that has been posting...
I have had "Ranulas" in the past and now have two at once... A Ranula is a blocked salivary gland (you can Wiki it...) that may or may not be blocked with a stone....

I do have a suggestion however...

If any of you have experianced dry eyes, dry mouth, brain fog, g.i. issues or achy bones in addition to your oral issues please get your blood tested for SJOGRENS Syndrome. It is an auto immune disease that causes your body to attack your mucus membranes .... It took 9 doctors 7 years of tests to figure this out for me.... save yourself the time...

I had this happen to me a number of weeks ago...Small little white bump right underneath my tongue. It got quite annoying. Even before comming to this forum I managed to "operate" it out of my system, thanks to a sterile pair of pliars. It hurt like a sonofabitch extracting it but things got better once it was out.

Only wish I could have found this website before-hand, may not have operated on my own mouth...

FYI there is no damage done.

I did a search on white bumps under tongue and this thread came up. I have several of them, just appeared out of nowhere yesterday. They're little, very small, too small for a rice krispie size stone to be inside... yet. I am also on Anti-depressants. I'm on Zoloft and Buspar for anxiety. I've been on the Zoloft for 8 months and Buspar for 4 months. This is the first time I've had this side effect, if this is one. I'll have to pull the papers to confirm. But, from all of our experiences, I would say the white bumps are a side effect of anti-depressants, we all have that in common. Mine are painful, but being so small, they're proportionately painful. They're not on the connecting tissue, they are on the underside of the tongue itself. Some on the veins, some not. Anyway, I'm glad I came across this site, thought I'd add my experience and maybe help others.

Also, I feel its important to mention that in my research I've found information on squamous cell carcinoma, which is bumps on the tongue, but I'm not sure if these two are connected. Its just something for you to research more or ask your doctor about, just in case.

Hi Marco, I do get a hard object under my tongue once in awhile. I'm not sure what it is, but I am sure it is benign becasue I have not been diagnosed with anything and it's been there for awhile. IT pops and then my saliva is a little salty. Does that sound familiar?

I've had a bad cold, when suddenly this bump appeared under my tongue. Suddenly, meaning in five or ten minutes. Worried about STD's, I searched and found this discussion. It tasted like blood, but I could touch it without pain. Hearing about these stones, I pinched it and decided that was not the issue. However, a couple minutes later I decided to put a few more pounds of pressure on it, pressed down, and now it's just plum gone, with only a slight taste of blood in the area. I didn't feel a pop or anything, it was the weirdest thing.

I too had a "tonsil stone"under my tongue. I feel like I had it for a long time but recently it became much bigger though it never caused pain. It seemed to be showing a white spot on it and that's when I got worried until I googled it and began reading what other bloggers had written. I scraped and prodded for days uncovering a hard stone which was annoying. Finally I pulled it out with my fingernail and with very little bleeding and no real pain it was gone. So weird! A small whitish "calcium-like stone". Three days later I still have a small hole in the bottom of my mouth under my tongue but the hole seems to be getting smaller each day. I began to think it was something real serious for a minute - so thanks to all the others who wrote in!

tonsil stones are generally at the back of the throat, everyone's speaking of things under their tongue. could this be the same thing??

I get them when I eat too much citrus or drink alcohol. I think its just a slight alergic
reaction. its either an irritated taste bud or blocks salvary gland....it hurts, but
once you pop it, its gone. I think its filled with saliva.

Hi all,

I just got one of these pimples under my tongue on the connecting tissue TODAY! I am on anti-depressants, and have been for several years. However, this is the first time this has happened. I also haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary.

I just poped mine and got a little stone too small for a rice krispie, it was yellowish and hard like a grain of sand. It was hard to pop. But hopefully the pain will go away now.

I also had pain all the way on the back corner of my mouth. It hurts to swallow or chew food. Is that connected? Anyone else experience this?

Hi All,
thanks for the yips provided. Even i had a lump under my tongue frm past an year. It was not giving me pain, so i was ignoring. Offlate, a week back, i used to get pain. So i started searching for solution. I was really scared to remove that lump by myself. Then with my hubby's support, I finally removed the lump. It was bleeding for sometime. I put turmeric which is an antiseptic powder and then by half an hour, bleeding subcided. By End of day, there was no blood signs nor pain. But the lump portion is not yet flat.It seems like the same, but when i press, i see there is no hard portion inside. I am relieved. Thanks for your comments.

developed a small tiny non painful bump under my tongue on the mouth floor yesterday after several weeks of dental work on that side but not really in that area. I am also on Wellbutrin 150sr x1 per day... I would have never thought this to be the reason for the bump. Annoying but certainly not painful. Any other causes? Solution to rid the bump? Thx
