I had one too and it was very painful. I did iodine rinses and they helped with the pain. the bump got a little longer and more painful. After I read these posts it looked like the solution was to pop it but I didn't want to because it wasn't white or hard, like I had a stone there. Then the same day while looking for something in my cupboard y saw a small bottle of gentian violet that I completely forgot I had, and immediately thought I should try that since a lot of people in Mexico use that for different mouth sores. Here's what I did: I dried the area first (because the tincture will stain your whole mouth). I was careful not to close my mouth so my tongue wouldn't get wet. then i applied the tincture and didn't close my mouth but air dried the tincture. After about a minute I then rinsed my mouth with water. After a few hours I felt a lot of relief. my bump wasn't swollen anymore, just a little. I repeated this after 12 hrs. and it was gone after that.

Glad I got to read up on this topic...I was pretty set on popping it because the swelling was terrible this morning. I burned the tweezers then sterilized it in alcohol and got to work. All I saw was blood coming out...if the "white" part was skin it came off. I didn't have H2O2, so used scope and rinsed. The area is still bothersome 4 hours later but not as bad as it was this morning.
If this does not leave by tomorrow morning I will look at scheduling an ENT visit (joy)

I have the same problem, when I eat acid, pepper, hot food or I thing anything except water, a pimple like thing comes under my tough. It will swell and the tip of it will be whitish. After a few minutes it will go down and also the whitish color on the tip of the pimple will go away. It does not hurt, it is just a bit of a discomfort for a few minutes. At first, I thought I was allergic to a particular food, but I don't think that is the case. It comes up when I have my oatmeal on mornings, too. I going to make an appointment to see the doctor. It just started about a little over a month. I will let you know what my doctor says.

This thread has been super helpful to me! I noticed one side of the lingual frenulum was a little 'swollen' and when I looked with a flashlight, I see two or three itty bitty white or yellow dots inside. I can feel them with my finger and they feel like grains of sand. I was freaking out. I had seen the oral surgeon earlier this week for a possible salivary stone on the other side and he said anxiety type meds DO cause these as well as other medications that cause dry mouth.
I tried milking mine with a Q-tip. They are no where near the size of a Rice Krispie! Maybe they'll move on up and out on their own. I'm sucking lemon drops and doing the hot drink like someone else suggested.
Thanks!

I have the same thing, only when I eat something, the bump appears and the lymp node on left side of neck pops out but goes away in about 5-10 minutes. Just started this a couple of days ago. I don't know whats going on!

I hate to be an alarmist but my sister had issues with her tongue that drs said, oh, its this or oh, its that and by the time they diagnosed the real cause (cancer) it was so advanced that they had to remove her tongue. (no joke) There is no history of oral cancer in the family, nor smoking, nor any risky behaviors. It came out of nowhere. Better to be safe than sorry. If the sore, bump, or whatever doesn't clear up in a couple of weeks let your doctor take a look at it. You have no idea the hell my family is going through. If you're too scared to do it for yourself, do it for your wife, husband, kids, etc.

I've delt with salivary stones since elementary school, but i didnt know what they were or how to get rid of them until this past year and im 19. Every school nurse and member of my family thought it was my lymphnodes but i didnt have insurance when I was younger so I couldnt have them checked out. A few years ago i had tests done for any kind of disorders of deficiancies in my lymphnodes and all came back normal. I'm not on anti depressants or anything else. I've read somewhere that it could be calcium build up or white blood cells left over from an infection. And eating pickles or lemons may help pull them out more but it hurts so bad, so try and pop it before you try lemons, itll save the pain!

The frenum under the tongue is not a tonsil, so what these people are experiencing are not tonsoliths. Calcium in the saliva (some people have more than others do) can collect in larger amounts and form calcium stones in the salivary ducts. Most depression medications dry you up, which means a drier mouth due to less saliva. If the ducts are not rinsed with enough saliva and calcium collects, it makes sense that calcium stones could form. I began experiencing one of these the other day. Not sure what to do about it. Most doctors seem a bit too passive to do anything, and act as if antibiotics are the only answer, which they are not. A Nurse

JUST SQUEEZE THE WHITE TIP! IT COMES OUT! Might take a few tries but ya'll will be fine. I've had it happen 3 times now. Doesn't hurt at all to squeeze it all, but it REALLY hurts to eat when it is there.
