I'm just now getting over this, it lasted for about 2-3 weeks. I did wash with dandruff shampoo and although it wasn't a know name brand it actually helped. I also was pitting on every morning and night teatree oil, so I'm not sure if it was the shampoo or oil:/ I started both at the same time. My spots are now peeling but I'm a lol nervous about it being permanent spotting like blemishes:( how long before the spots clear up? Anyone?

I was diagnosed with Pityriasis Rosea in October of 2013, and was told it would last 6-8 weeks. In August of 2014, I still had the rash all over my back, but it was more of a cosmetic issue versus a physical ailment, as mine did not itch. Well around this same time in August, I also developed dandruff, so I began using Head and Shoulders to hopefully reduce the dry scalp and flakes. Now I have long hair and several days after using H&S, I noticed my rash dramatically began to fade! I did a little research and found that there are many others who have found relief of PR with H&S, so I began adding a dollop to my loofah and washed my back and all other PR affected areas with H&S. Two weeks after and the rash that once covered 90% of my back is virtually gone!! I recommend H&S on the affected area in the shower, but don't leave it on too long as you don't want to develop a chemical burn. Good luck!

Hi Lyns!

I have been scouring the forums. Finally somebody else that found Head and Shoulders made the rash appear more inflamed. I am darker skinned and the rash has made my PR look more angry, quite red and I'm now really scared about scarring.

Did you eventually get rid of your PR? What did you do?
