I had a kidney cyst removed 4 years ago. Recently I have a gurgling popping sound in that area especially after a meal. When sleeping I get pain if I lay on my left side. I can feel something under thye left rib that makes the spongy noise when pressed. I think my cyst has refilled or regrown.

It may just be a a knot on your rib. I'm a dancer and I had that exact thing and I had it rubbed out and now it is gone. That was two years ago and it is still gone. Good luck!

I've been dealing with this off and on for months now, it got so bad where I couldn't walk or get out of bed. X-rays and Cat scans came back normal as well. The popping is very frustrating. The Dr has no idea as to what it is.

It's called Chostrocondritis / slipping rib syndrome. It can be extremely painful - especially during flare-ups. Naproxen usually helps but if its really bad go to the ER they will almost always give you pain meds. In my case the ribs slip up to a half inch and it hurts like holy bejesus

I have had the same exact thing your describing. Don't really pay no mind to because once it pops that's it doesn't hurt again. I have it happen maybe 1 a week.

Have you had a diagnosis? I started having the same symptoms 3 week ago, I had a mild flu like virus which lasted 3 days then suddenly I got the pain on my right side at the back, I couldn't breathe in it hurt that much I also had the bubbling feeling and the popping. It went after 6 days and now it's back again, it doesn't feel like it's a muscle problem but feels like it's my lung, I have no other symptoms, it almost feels like my lung is getting caught on something as I breathe in and then as it inflates more whatever its getting caught on let's go and that's what's making the popping cracking feeling.

The same thing is happening to me too! I'm 16 girl and have had a horrible pain in both of my lungs for 4 years now. It started in just my right lung but has moved over to my left lung in the same place. I have had countless tests and they tested everything from a cold to cancer and every test came out negative. I gave up on finding a cure about a year ago thinking the pain would eventually go away, but it hasn't. I was wondering if you found out what your problem was?

A few years ago I started getting the popping on the right side, and sometimes I could hear and feel liquid sloshing around in that area. It happened a few times, and the doctors couldn't tell me exactly what it was. One doctor said it could possibly be pleurisy. They saw that I had some scar tissue on my Xray. Then the shortness of breath started. I went about a week with shortness of breath and fatigue. I thought maybe I had a mind case of walking pneumonia or something. It got better. I continued to get the popping in my ribs occasionally. Last year I started feeling sick, had shortness of breath with pain, and felt like I was gonna pass out several times. I ended up in the ER where they discovered that my right lung was about 40% collapsed. They put in a chest tube which expanded the lung, but it wouldn't stay up without the tube. I ended up having surgery. I had a second collapse a few months ago. Another tube and another surgery. I was told that the cause of these reoccurring collapsed where caused by a rare condition called Catamenial Pneumothorax. It's related to endometriosis and it happens during your menstrual cycle. I would say to anyone experiencing popping clicking or fluid in there side ribs or lung area to pay attention to when these symptoms occur. If you notice that it's during your cycle, it could be CP. Talk to both a lung specialist and your obgyn.

It's called trap gas everyone that keeps freaking out and calling it all these awful things. It's a very painful bubble pop that feels like it's in your ribcage yeah? Shockingly enough it's gas that can't escape normally burping will help or laying down with arms above your head and short breaths. I get them every so often and that's what it's always been.

I have had that for maybe 3-5 months now.. What's weird is maybe last year I had this ache on my left side at the bottom of my ribs. Is was so bad at times I could even get out of the car. Then my doctor gave me steroid which I took for 2 months and that aching went away. Only wen I'm slouched over if stretched out my side aches. Then I got the bubble feeling. At first it was only were I had my aching on my side.. Now it's on my right and left side! It feels like a bubble and hurts, it's a sharp pain and I can sometimes "hit" we're it hurts and it pops. When it pops it hurts and when I have it I can take a deep breathe and it will hurt a lot but will pop then leave my side a little sore for 7-10 seconds. I nor my pedeatrition knows what it is, I have had blood work, screenings, tests... Still nothing.. Glad to see other people have the same feeling. Keep in mind, I'm 12 and having this so it worries me. Especially sense Im having/have CRONIC pain for a year and a half at 12!!!!
