I've been dealing with this for about 6 years now, however I also have a lot of pain on my right shoulder between the shoulder blade and spine and have a history of a shoulder injury. And I've been in and out of doctors with various diagnosis. Still, it didn't make sense. The only helpful information I've received was from a Physiotherapist that i just started seeing, yesterday. She suggested, after an assessment of my back, that the cracking and poping is because of the ribes are out of line from inflammation and scar tissue from an old torn muscle that never healed right. The physiotherapist said massaging, stretching and working on strengthenening the appropriate back musscles (in my case traps) should over time, help with the cracking, popping and pain.

Hope this helps someone.

I am suffering the same problem, I have had it on and off for 3 weeks now, been in hospital two times with the pain, thought I was dying, the doctors don’t know what it is, just take pain killers. I need to know what’s going on and want answers, this is not normal to be in this pain,

This has happened to me for the last ten years. I’m 30 years old. Usually when I get it I can breath in really deep and fast and it will pop. But I never knew what it was and now I’m worried it could be a bigger issue than I thought from your post. Let me know what you find out. Thanks

I hurt my ribs not too long ago. It was painful but not excruciating pain. Now I am hearing some kind of popping sound in front of my ribs. What does that mean?

I get them too so does my husband every now and then, every few years. We always called them lung bubbles. No one else ever knew what we were talking about
