Question for everyone...I had a one night stand with a woman. (Only time I've ever done that and it was a terrible decision). Exactly 6 days later she said she went to the doctor for kidney stones and she said they gave her a home style pregnancy test and it gave a positive result. 4 days after that she showed me that test the doctor supposedly gave her and it still had moisture under the cap. (Kinda sounds fishy because I didn't think a doctor office would give you the actual test to carry around and it seems like it would have dried out by then). I bought a test that day. She took it in the bathroom and came out with a positive result. She claims she hadn't had sex with anyone before me in over a year and that she had the depo provera shot a month before her and i had sex. My questions are...is it possible for a home pregnancy test to show positive after only 6 days after intercourse? Would a doctor give you the test to carry around? Would it still ne moist after 4 days? I mean all of this just sounds fishy to me. Not that i'm trying to get out of my responsibilities of caring for my possible child and assisting the possible mother of that child because I laid down willingly so that would ne my responsibility and I DEFINITELY will man up and do so, I just feel like i'm being lied to.

I don't think that would make sense. Usually after a few months, she probably is lying.
Try to get it out of her.

Hi PB,
A couple of things:
1. It is very improbably that a pregnancy test would read positive 6 days after having sex. It ALMOST ALWAYS takes at least 2 weeks - at a minimum. Conception doesn't occur immediately, it can take about 3-5 days. It also takes time for hCG to rise high enough to be detected.
2. There is no reason for the doctor to give her the test to take with her. A keepsake? Regardless, you couldn't trust the results days later.
3. If she took another test then it is likely she is pregnant.
4. Depo is an effective birth control, it is unlikely (not impossible) that she'd conceive while on it.
Basically, you don't know how far along she is. There are enough red flags that no matter what you should demand a paternity test. There is a strong possibility she was pregnant and needed someone to be "daddy." Yes, there are women out there like that.
Good luck.
