Hi I really need to hear from people. I am in tears right now and filled with worry. My daughter, due to help a medical condition called POTS, was put on a birth control pill for a week, then taken off. The following week, she was put on another type and taken off another week later. After this she good soooo moody. She was off for about a month and a half and then she started continuous bc pills for 8 weeks. Her moods were worse on the pill. I think her system may be all screwed up. So now she has been off all hormones for about a month and a half. Her mood swings are bad-angry, teary, irritable. Has anyone gone through post birth control syndrome and if so how was it for you? When did things get better? She is only 13. She feels so bad afterwards and apologizes. Please, someone write back to me. Thanks ❤️
I had this once in my life, so I decided not to use birth control anymore.
In regard to teenagers, their hormone levels swing by default since so many things happens during the puberty, their hormone levels can vary in opposite levels. I suggest you to consult with your OBGYN, and in case the mood swings become unbearable for her, even with endocrinologist.
Teens have to know that there are some other safer protection methods. Birth control won't protect you from STD's but condoms will, so at the end for me that would be the message to her.
Once she's getting older and out of puberty, with a long-term partner, then she should consider birth control as a way to go, but I'm married in early 40's and still use condoms and avoid birth control and messing with my hormones.
