Hello,
My partner and I have decided to start trying for our first (but this will be my second). We just started last month, and I already missed my period this month. I am regular to the day, and never late, and I am about 9 days past my missed period at the moment. I have had some of the pregnancy symptoms, but when I did home tests they kept coming back negative. So I decided to go to the doctors, and ask for a blood test. Yesterday I was told that it was negative. He told me that it was 100% accurate.
Thing is I remember when I had my first, it took around 6-7 weeks for me to get a positive on being pregnant even tho i knew that I was. I am wondering if I should get a second opinion? Wait it out? Or is the test actually 100%? I cant be sure exactly when we concieved, as we have been actively at it all month, maybe its still too early?
I havent had a problem with my period once in the last 3 years, and my doctor told me that its normal not to have a period for up to 3 months, and only after then should i worry. Sounds wierd to me. Any advice?

Hiya,
I didnt get a positive result until i was 8 weeks pregnant, and id previously had urine sent off and a blood sample which came back negative at 5 weeks pregnant. i was told it is rare but tests are NOT always 100% accurate. when i went back to the doctors a month after my missed period (i knew i preg as this is my 4th child) i made then do another test, which was positive . . then the scan made me 8 weeks!
In some people the hormone in your blood/urine can be too low to detect! i kept re-testing with standard tests with each week that passed without my period! at the end of your day you know your own body . . i knew my period wasnt going to randomly be 3 months late as id been regular since a teenager! i think you should wait it out and get re-tested when you are a month past your missed period (so 8 weeks pregnant)
good luck xxx

thanks a lot, I am at 2 weeks late now, so I will wait it out a few more weeks, and try again.
My period is always normal. I have had some really bad cramping in the last few days as well, so hopefully all is okay.
I thought it was strange for a doctor to tell me the test is 100% i mean, nothing is really ever 100%
