I had one Depo shot and during that time, I did not have cramping or anything. I skipped a month and got back on it and now I am cramping really bad and my boobs are hurting and they look like they are getting bigger, I have an increase in appetite and I feel really weak and sick at times... I only cramped when I was on my period or when I was pregnant with my second daughter. I took a pregnancy test and it said negative. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about it? I see a lot of people saying they have the same symptoms but no answers. Could I be pregnant?

I came off the Depo to have my first child.. the first time I was on the depo (for 7 years) I had no symptoms, or body troubles and my periods stopped completely.
I had a very rough pregnancy and got all the symptoms (back ache, nausea, headaches, bloating, tiredness etc)
Well after having my boy I went back on the injection and I am getting ALL the symptoms back including cravings, spotting and being bloated. I have taken a pregnancy test every month since and I'm on my 3rd Depo shot.
I can't explain why I still get pregnancy symptoms 10 months after giving birth but it's very worring and I constantly feel ill and drained. I've decided not to have the depo again in case it is a reaction to it and hopefully after baby no 2 i will be able to get sterilised as I can't go through this again.

I really hope I am not pregnant just because I have been drinking alcohol and smoking while I have been on the Depo. I got my first shot in Mid July, that was a week and a half after my last menstrual period. The nurse said that I should use condoms for the first 2 weeks to be safe. I didn't and in that period of time had sex with my boyfriend on numerous occasions, 4 weeks after my shot I bled a bright red colour near to orange for 3 weeks straight. Then bled very lightly for 3 days 6 weeks later. I took a pregnancy a week before that period and it was negative. I don't like feeling like this I am depressed a lot, having headaches daily, falling asleep during the day (even though I have had a lot of sleep), I've gained a little weight but that is a normal side effect with the Depo. I'm worried that the shot has changed my hormone levels too much and has caused me to get sick. A lot of these symptoms I am having could also be Thyroid related. I don't know :-(

ok so all birthcontrols are supposed to make your body think its pregnant! thats how it stops you from getting pregnant!

I have been reading all of your comments and it crazy because i too have been having all these symptoms. but I'm not on the DEPO shot. i have Mariana. i thought i had a miscarriage about 3 1/2 months ago. but now I'm second guessing it. because of the way I've been feeling. same time every night i feel sick to my stomach. my eating and sleeping have increased. i am a smoker and when i was pregnant with my daughter i couldn't smoke 100's they made me sick to my stomach. I'm having that problem now. when i was pregnant with my son i couldn't eat certain things like spicy food, I'm having that problem now also. i have discharge, just like with both of my previous pregnancy's. the bubbly popping feelings. when i lay on my stomach it hurts and I've never had that problem. I've taken a good 15 pregnancy test and they have all been negative. my mother went threw this same stuff when she was pregnant with my little brother she took test after test and they were all negative. I'm worried and scared to death that I'm pregnant. could my birth control throw off my pregnancy test? when i thought i had the miscarriage i bleed for 2 weeks straight. and then after i was having a period every 2 weeks. sometimes they would be light and sometimes they would look like i was clotting and gross. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! Can anyone help?

I started the depo in july 2010 and since august I have off & on spotting to a heavy period. took 2 pregnancy test 1 neg or inconclusive.. called the nurse told me if it didn't stop let them know but wait till my second shot. I have all the symptoms of pregnant but nothing to confirm it.. tender breast, nausea, some throw-up and cramps that I expected with my 1st child the doctor explained as growing pains when your uterus is growing to allow for the fetus. I am tired and moody. I am so confused. then since Dec 1st I have bleed alll month when I called the nurse , she said I just need to come in for a estrogen shot. The health dept won't even try to help me find out, cause the nurse practictner says I can't get pregnant cause I had a tubal 16 yrs ago. but the doctor that performed it told me they only last about 5-6 years at the most. They only tye them up like shoe strings. So this worries me. I am older woman who's already had 1 heart attack. if I didn't have fibric cyst in my breast and uterus wall I wouldn't care about birth control to shrink them. It worries me I seem more fertile when on birth control

While it is possible to get pregnant on the Depro shot is it VERY unlikely. When used correctly fewer than 1 out of 100 women get pregnant on the shot.
Most of the symptoms you claim are things that your doctor should have discussed with you before getting the shot and are common side effects.
