and just to add because i was reading one up there, the blood changes colors constantly like that too, like for the first 2/3 weeks it was like dark brown/black and only on one side of the tampon. which dosent make sense i know but thats what happens. and ive only started to get red blood this week and its heavier than what ive been getting, but not much. and im not on any BC or anything.

I think that the color changes may be stress related, which can cause a wide fluctuation in period consistency. If you were on BC, it might be more regular. Does that make sense at all?

yea but im not stressed at all. lol im very chill. and i wanna be on BC to make it regular but my mom wont let me go on it and she doesnt know of this problem because i dont want her to flip. shes a serious spazz. shes gonna think im ldying or something.

yea it makes sense, i wanna be on BC but my mom wont let me because she probably thinks im going to use it for sex, which i DEFINATLY wont, im scared of all the sh*t that goes around now. BLEH. so she says i dont NEED it. but she doesnt know im having menstrual problems either, because im scared shes gonna spazz on me because shes very overdramatic. so i dont know what to do..

Hi, I'm almost 13 and I started my period in August, took birth control pills for a month in October, but other than that month my period has been nonstop since then. It has also been insanely heavy. I went and got my blood checked and literally nothing was wrong. My mom's an OB/BYN and she doesn't even know what's wrong.
WTF?!?!?! ?

I have been going thru the same thng just not as long as you, I have major cramps, I am not on the pill and haven't been for a couple yrs. but i practice safe sex with my fiancee I have been bleeding for about 6 weeks. starting to get really nervous, but the obgyn will def. c u b/c ts not a regular exam. If you just wanted to get a yearly exam tey wouldn't b/c of your period, but since its an irregularity, they will def. take you in.

Get the pap smear! It's not that big of a deal and can really help figure out what's going on.

Just adding my two cents- I've always been "normal". But as a Christian Scientist, I have never seen a doctor. I guess fortunately for me (lol) I've never been on birth control, and never been pregnant or had kids. So, I'm not about to go for any kind of check up, even though my period has been going now for two months straight. I admit I'm having a problem handling this, or I wouldn't be in a health forum! lol
For me, I think it's age (I'm 45) and stress. (Mom with Alzh needs care) So I'm blaming my whacked out hormones on that. Not very happy to realize that "perimenopause" doesn't have any PAUSE in it sometimes! I do take vitamins, and simply added more iron to my diet. I'm embarrassed to say I did try the apple cider vinegar (2 TBSP) and honey treatment twice a day, but that didn't do anything, and I was ashamed of myself for trying old wive's tale remedies ;-)
I was very interested to read here of the woman who tried removing dairy/milk from her diet, due to added hormones on those products. I would agree with that, and I'm going to try it!
I would have faith that this is a natural process, but ladies..it's frustrating! And interfering with sex life! Dang!
Just want you to know you're not alone if this is happening to you, and whatever you do- don't jump to the conclusion that you're defective or need surgery or ANYTHING LIKE THAT! Let your body adjust. If you're not in pain, just try to calm down and see what happens. You'll be OK.

i just turned 14 and my period started in august 09 when i was 13. i have irregular periods. i've been having one period through out 3 months (august, sept, october) and then it stopped for a while (november) and then my period started again (dec, jan) and its been so far 45 days in my cycle (dec, jan) i rarely have cramps (only once each in both periods) and have some blood clotting. no color changes. my period is about 5 days of light blood, 2 and 1/2 weeks of heavy blood, and then 2 weeks of medium/regular blood, 1 week of light blood. i'm 85-90 pounds, underweight for my age (8th grade) and skinny. is it possible birth control pills could help? and would i have to take them or is there another alternative? would a doctor allow me to take birth control pills? and how would and would a pap smear help? thanks

My daughter is 30 now and has been bleeding this way for years and only stops for a few days or so every 6 months, or when she keeps up her appointments with her Acupuncturist. If she stops, she gets so weak from this she has to take time off work. She has not been able to get pregnant because of this and even though her husband is very understanding it is hard on him as well. She has never taken Birth control and has never taken hormones even though many Drs try to get her on them. She wont because she is Catholic and does not believe in them. She has been diagnosed with PCOD, an Ovarian disease. The only way she has been helped with this bleeding is when she spends time with her Acupuncturist. That seems to help allot.

I gave birth to my son in 2005 and have been bleeding almost everyday since. I went to a doctor and she put me on Lo-Estrin 24. It worked!!! But it was exspensive. $50 a pack and i'm poor. I am a little better off now and thinki can afford it again. Does anyone know what kind of doctor i can see without getting a pap done. No doctor will give me a prescription without one. Health Department won't help either. The first doctor did but it was very exspensive. Any suggesstions on where to go??

You can go to your Gyno when you have your period. They see it very often. I had my period for a year straight once and had to get checked out. If you explain the situation before and talk to your Gyno you may feel more comfortable about it.

Hi I am 21 years old i had my son on April 3, 2009. After giving birth i had my period heavy for about a week, then i had nothing until the begining of June I had my period for one day straight but it was like brown blood. Now last week i had my first normal period mon-thurs, friday and sat gone now it came back sunday and i still have it pretty heavy, but it is like brown thick blood again like the spotting I had in June. I did breast feed with my son for the first two months which they say can push back your period, but now that it is here should it be coming like this?
