Hello,

I was wondering if any of you have any idea what I might have:

Sore throat for a week.
Got Biaxin. Went away for a couple of days during the time I was taking Biaxin.
After I finished Biaxin, sore throat came back 2 days later.
Next week I got a stronger antibiotic (had an 'L' somewhere in the name?). It worked. No sore throat.
But throat ocassionally felt weird during the next week after taking it.

Now, my throat feels weird (not painful) again. I had a tiny coughing fit a couple days ago but it went by pretty quickly.

So it seems like the sore throat might be coming back.

I don't have any other symptoms. Anyone know what might be wrong?

By the way, I've also been drinking lots of green tea and ginger tea. Could it be possible that the antioxidant effects are inhibiting my body's ability to oxidize (and destroy) the bacteria that are causing my sore throat?

Your description of what you've been dealing with sounds just like mine. You get antibiotics, it goes away, it comes back within a week. Even down to the drinking of green tea everyday... never even thought of that myself.

I was first diagnosed with strep Jan. 10th (w/o a throat culture taken BTW), next diag. with sinus injection, next diag. with pharyngitis, back to another sinus infection AND pharyngitis. My sinuses have been 95% clear since, but the dry, scratchy throat came back within a week and now I'm back to popping aspirin every 4-6 hours. I've literally taken more antibiotics and OTC meds since Jan. 10th than I have in the last 10 years combined. I'm thinking virus, but I've not heard of anything like this before.

Sure hope someone has some insight into this....

and he seems to think I have acid reflux. I thought he was nuts at first, but after reading the pamphlet he gave me on it, it kinda makes sense.

So he put me on Nexium and it does seem to be getting better, in fact the best it's been in 2 months.... never in my wildest dreams would I have thought acid reflux.
