My husband got prescription for propanlol, to treat anxiety disorder. I didn’t know that propanlol was benzodiazepine. I have heard that its primary indication is hypertension. How effective this drug can be in treatment of anxiety? My husband has started experiencing tremor and increased nervousness that can not be considered as typical anxiety, but is harmful.

Propranolol is not benzodiazepine, you’re right. It is beta blocker and is indicated in treatment of hypertension. But it is also useful in treatment of aggressive behaviour, panic attacks, tremor, certain types of pain and some others. It is not habit forming drug, and is usually prescribed for treatment that lasts up to 8 months. I have been using this medication to prevent migraine attacks, and it worked excellent.
