Hi - I am 43 years old. I have never been pregnant. At 34 I had exploratoy surgery that revealed blocked tubes. They were way beyond repair and I was given a 5% change of getting pregnant. My gyn advised that my tubes blocked themselves off years before in an attempt to fight off an STD. The ironic thing is that I have only been with one man my entire life. Last year my cycle started to change and I developed lower back pain during ovulation and my period. I also started bleeding heavier than I ever had and started spotting in between, my cycle has also been reduced from 28 to 21 days. My gyn did a biopsy and ultrasound and concluded my back pain was muscular. A year later I still have back pain and now I have been diaignosed with complex cysts. My gyn (the same) advised me to wait three months for another ultrasound to see if the cysts change at all. I am so scared that perhaps he is missing something and I am unhealthier than he might think. He thinks the pill might help but admits that it will only lessen the number of periods I have but I will still have the pain when I get them. I begged for a hysterecotomy last year and he refused. I feel as if these organs have failed me all along and if my period continues in this manner for the next few years I'll go crazy. My question is what causes the lower back pain - I'm thinking it is maybe scar tissue or a cyst sitting near a nerve. Does anyone else agree that I am a candidate for a hysterectomy and if so would that get rid of my lower back pain? Sorry for the length of this post. Thanks.

sounds like you have endometriosis.

The first GYN I saw about unusual bleeding and cramps told me that it's really rare to get endo and since then, I found that he's very wrong.

You may not have endo but getting another opinion might help you figure things out.

good luck
