I have a giant nevus on the right side of my back and though I can't practically see it in its whole size it still borders me and I am now thinking of removal of my nevus. I actually thought to have some chemical peels of the affected skin so I would like to hear how effective would be this form of removal of my nevus, does it hurt and would it leave some scars? Thanks!

Usually some skin peels are used to treat acne scaring but also some chemical peels could be used to perform the removal of nevus and usually phenol is the chemical agent used in removing the nevus. It basically eats the skin and practically it peels away the skin top layer in which manner the nevus becomes lighter actually. I don't know weather you do this removal of nevus for some specific reason such as skin cancer or the possibility of getting it one day but if it is malignant than you should know that chemical peels are not 100%effective for in many cases it leave the abnormal nevus back there on the skin.
