With so much talk about acne scar removal treatment, it would be good, I think, to start a thread for aftercare treatments people can use to support the scar removal treatment, such as creams and oils, or supplements taken orally.

What do you know about encouraging recovery and healing post scar removal treatment? Have you had it done, and if so 1. what were your aftercare instructions and 2. what method of scar removal treatment did you undergo?

There are a lot of threads about scar removal going on at the moment, so this information could help many people get better results from their treatments.

Vitamin E oil? Vitamin C serum? Panthenol cream? Just keeping the area very well hydrated? I'd imagine that, if you have any kind of professional scar removal treatment done, the person who did the treatment will send you away with a set of instructions on how to care for your skin after the removal procedure. But these are all things that are very good for generally battered skin in need of a little extra love and attention, so I imagine they would serve anyone well.

I don't really understand the question to be honest. You want to know about home remedies for scar treatment or you want to know about home remedies for after you have scar treatment?? It sounds like you are saying that second bit but I don't understand why that would be needed? If you have laser treatment for scars then you go home with aftercare instructions you need from the clinic that did your treatment. You do not need to be messing around with natural remedies or anything like that, which may even interfere with the treatment?

You may actually be surprised to hear that there are many options on the market for post care after having scar removal treatment!

Of course, after you have the treatment your provider will suggest the routine they personally have come to see as most effective for the type of treatment they offer, but all these ointments have the same purpose, which is to keep the skin moist and prevent new scar formation! Elta cream is a very popular one. It's also important to use a hypoallergenic cleanser and moisturizer when post scar treatment. As everything is still fresh, you want to be weary of anything that could potentially lead to an inflammatory reaction and in turn new scars.

I do have some tips about acne scar treatments you can try before you look for more radical, surgical or non surgical, removal techniques.

- Prevention is better than the cure! Cetaphil ultra rapid action treatment has won some awards, is cheap, and can help you prevent scar formation in the first place.

- When your skin is inflamed and prone to redness, if you can afford it why not try Dermatologica overnight clearing gel? Really helps.

- Exfoliate with a scrub made for acne sufferers. Cerave rewewing SA cleanser is really good for that.

- Use a brightening like Burt's Bees sensitive facial cleanser to nip developing scars in the bud.

- Still not satisfied? Ask your doctor about a Retin-A prescription, which can clear acne up real fast without terrible side effects like you would get with Accutane.

Thank you, that was very helpful! Of course preventing scars is always better than curing them and sometimes easier. Sometimes nothing will work and you still end up with scars, despite trying your best to fight them.

Whether it is laser treatment, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, or other treatments that are slipping my mind at the moment, there have got to be after care tips that really help maximize the results of the treatment. Please continue to share your tips!
