Hi, I have a swollen right abdomen level with my belly button but on the right side(not back or front stomach). I pulled a muscle 2 months back and had to take a week off work. Now the pain has gone but the swelling is still there. It doesnt hurt when I push it. Not pain anywhere but swollen. I had numbness in my back for the first month. I feel fine to work out at the gym again it tingles sometimes. I went to emergency 1 month ago and they told me it was just a pulled muscle, but now pain is gone and swelling is still there. How long before this is gone or do I need further examination?
Someone please help

Hi, guest. Here are some potential causes of persistent abdominal swelling or lumps that you should consider discussing with your doctor:
-
Hernia: Hernias can cause a noticeable lump or swelling in the abdominal area, especially when you strain or bear down. It's possible that a hernia developed as a result of your muscle strain or due to other factors.
-
Seroma: Sometimes, after an injury or surgery, fluid can accumulate in the tissues, leading to a seroma. This can create a swelling that persists for an extended period.
-
Other soft tissue issues: It's possible that there is another soft tissue issue, such as a hematoma (collection of blood) or a lipoma (benign fatty lump), in the area that requires evaluation.
-
Infection: Infections can sometimes cause localized swelling, but they typically come with other symptoms like pain, redness, and warmth in the affected area.
Since the pain has resolved, it's a positive sign, but the persistent swelling should not be ignored. I recommend that you schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider, preferably a primary care physician or a specialist in abdominal issues, for a thorough examination. They may recommend further tests, such as an ultrasound or CT scan, to determine the cause of the swelling and provide appropriate treatment or management recommendations.
