That's actually the worst advice to give. Using a tampon, powder, and perfume, all with chemicals in them, will distress the pH balance. Even pads are made with chemicals and bleach. Is best to use the most natural products, like a cup, and wear cotton panties, and wash with WATER ONLY. Google the info I'm giving you, and you'll see that ANYONE with any medical knowledge with highly advise against this advice.

Please ladies do not take this advice! Perfumes and sented powders in your panties will cause vaginal infections!! If there is any oder please seek professional advice..having any oder is your bodies way of telling you something is wrong. Trying to mask the smell could jeoperdise your health. Seek out a clinic near you if you can not afford to see a doctor.

Super bad advice if you having odor problems then its best to wear loose clothes and skirts until you get to a doc to clear it up and never use powder it causes cancer in women as far as wipes if you want to feel fresher use cottonelle wet wipes or baby wipes these are less harsh than feminine wipes and never I mean never spray perfume on your underwear it will make matters worse that's like spraying your under pits with perfume when you already sweated and you're. Smelly its only going to make it worse and irritate the thinner skin there and its only ok to use a tampon when there nothing wrong up there if you smell like rotting meat and you are bleeding use only pads until you can get to a doctor

Hello, I have had this problem before and again recently. :( I am also having more frequent periods. There has always been tampon I've lost in there when I notice this particular odor. Got careless bc of having to use so often., I had to put one foot on toilet and really reach in while pushing..,it finally came out.

I completely agree with this gal, and love ppl being so blunt and open. We are women here, no need to puss foot thru the tulips, I completely agree that it seems like it's hanging out and libgering, causing the lining to rot somewhat. I'm 42 and this makes the 3rd month I've noticed it and my periods are

I had that for years without anything being diagnosed and then I had a pap, smear that came out pre-cancerous and I had a biopsy and then I had a procedure called LEEP which took out the core of my cervix after the operation I never had that rank odor again

Stop wearing deodorant, the body has to push the stink out one way or another.

That makes perfect sense! I'm going to get myself an old-fashioned vinegar douche!

do not douche. try 1 of these: 1 tbs of apple cider vinegar, 1 tbs of baking soda, 1 tbs of sea salt; add these to a warm 'bath/soak', and sit in it for about 20 to 30 mins. the vinegar and baking soda are deodorizers and help balance ph in the body, overall, including the vagina. sea salt has anti inflammatory and detoxifying properties.
soak a tampon on coconut oil and add a couple drops of tea tree oil to the tip. insert that before before bed, 2 to 5 nights, until symptoms disappear. Continue to take probiotic pills and/or eat plain yogurt
insert coconut oil soaked tampon at night, before bed, for up to 5 days. continue with probiotics.

Get out and move..walking is great..yoga, pilates, anything that gets your blood circulating will help 'move things along' as well. activity is also an immune system booster, as long as it isn't so intense as to put a strain on the body. also try adding citrus to your water. lemon, grapefruit and/or lime, are great immune system boosters and help detox the body through the kidneys.

I'm now on my 2nd (non-smelly) period since 'stinky period'. OMG! What a stink it was too.
42 years old, 1 child (13) and NEVER had this issue before. The smell was so bad I stunk the loo's out at Uni and was acutely embarrassing. I checked for a rogue lost tampon and then I went to see my Doctor (in UK so on NHS) and she could not suggest anything other than wait until the period stops and if the smell is still there, come back and get some swabs done, and then tried to get me to use a Mooncup (got one already thanks) Well, the smell left with the period and like I said, I'm now on 2nd period with no smell. Thanks for your response Jessica, I had a similar conclusion myself that it could have been something about older 'rotten' blood. I also have an IUD (and we all know how it works) so wondered if maybe I had managed to implant then lose?????? Anyway, check up booked with GUM clinic, if they can shed any light on it i'll come back and let you all know.

I have exactly same experience and exactly same theory, I'm 45. But I also find that wearing a tampon these days is very uncomfortable, maybe because the flow isn't what it used to be, so I'm just going with the frequent feminine wipes and put up with it. But it's horrible.
