I'd suggest a menstrual cup, tampons and pads have chemicals that Wil react with your menstrual fluids and create a gross odor, if you find the issue with using a cup then I'd say get the Dr advice.

If everything else that could cause vaginal discharge – trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, and yeast infection – has been ruled out, cytolytic vaginosis should be evaluated and investigated.
Cytolytic vaginosis is also called lactobacillus overgrowth syndrome or Doderlein’s cytolysis, and is characterised by an overgrowth of Lactobacilli. This overgrowth actually damages the vaginal cells and results in the cell wall rupturing and the cell dying.
Cyto means cell, and lytic means death – cytolytic vaginosis is therefore a condition involving the disintegration of the vaginal cell wall.

My boss is a man, and he smells like rotting meat. You have no idea how many "wallflower" scents are in my office. Just had to complain. When I use to get my period, it always smelled. Anyway, feel better.

There is a probiotic nonsoap I swear by... Helped me a lot.. called Luvena... Hard to find I usually buy it online. I only buy the feminine wash ...works great. They have other feminine products as well. U have to try The wash or nonsoap. Smells like cucumbers. Leaves me the freshest .

Also try Waterworks... It's a douche bag with stainless steel nozzle. The nozzle kills bacteria naturally with the water. Every one I know who's tried it loves... ok best of luck.

Hello,
I'm no doctor. I work in medical laboratory, the people who do your testings. I have regular periods (25 yrs old) but every period acts differently for me but I'm used to all forms that I get. For some periods, after it is finished and the last bits are coming out. It's brownish. To me it looks like old remnants of the lining that has died so the color is turning and so is the smell and I realized a few days ago that to me it smells like Proteus spp. Bacteria. I'm not sure that that is the actual cause of the smell but when I looked it up. That species of bacteria likes decay and lives in our feces as well. So I'm thinking that maybe the dying period material is growing that bacteria which then causes the smell. I currently work in the microbiology department and we all smell many different stinks but for all of us proteus spp is the worst smell lol.

And as for your irregular periods. I believe that is the beginning of your menopause phase. I've heard people who go through a period of nothing. Then a period of many periods close together. Or spotting. And periods that become crazy heavy that even the biggest pads aren't enough even with tampons. I hope this reassures you.

Also for further reference. Do not take any antibiotic when you don't know what you have. Also if a doctor gives you antibiotics. Always finish the bottle even when you feel better. When you stop taking it this leaves the surviving bacteria to adapt and this is how we are seeing more and more cases of stronger strains of bacteria like MRSA (Methicilin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus). ALWAYS finish antibiotics and NEVER randomly take them. One antibiotic can work for some kinds of bacteria but not another. That is why there are many different kinds of antibiotics.

I hope this helps.

This is what I was thinking too. I don't know why it would just be age alone (I'm 29) - our bodies are designed to work the right way to prevent infection etc.... I have a job that requires sitting all day now, which is unusual for me. I've been there almost two years and this problem started about a year into the job. I wonder if I'm just not activating my pelvic floor muscles enough (I used to be constantly walking or on my feet) or getting enough circulation to that area!? I am wondering also if my uterus could tilted or angled incorrectly - am going to try to do Mayan Abdominal massages to see if that helps!! Can anyone else with this problem recall having a change in exercise habits?

Apple Cider vinegar has yeast in it - would be cautious about this if you are prone to yeast infections I think!
