Totally agree with you on your theory!! I have this problem also, it started at age 49 and I am now 50. I have been to the doctor, the gynecologist, and alternative medicine physician, and they all tell me that it's either bacterial vaginosis which can and/or will heal itself over time, or it's premenopausal symptoms. However, knowing what it is and dealing with the owner or two different things! Being more of a naturalist myself, I would like to try using essential oils and homeopathics in the healing process. But unfortunately I do not have that information at this time. Just know you are not alone! :-)

Holy yeast infection lady! No, don't use baby powder everyone should know by now it's linked to cervical and other types of cancers!!!! The smell is probably something as simple as diet, red meats, sea food, etc.

BLOOD CLEANSING ! ...how about, that the blood most logically is not clean anymore? ...how about that we don't detect illness til it's more severe than necessary!? ...and how about that it is mainly the liver and kidneys that keep our bodies and our blood clean!? So possibly a kidney liver and blood cleansing "diet" is what one needs in a case of foul smelling blood. (love to hear how it progresses into clean ;-)

I posted about 5 months ago (42, 1 child, IUD, stunk the loos out at uni etc etc)
After 'stinky period' that smell hasn't put in another appearance, but I did say I'd come back and let you know what the GUM clinic said.
Essentially the Doc said what Jessica said. That rotten meat smell comes when the uterine lining maybe does not shed quite as quickly as it should, therefore 'hanging around' inside for a bit longer than usual and goes 'off'

I think for the amount of replies here, it goes to prove we are not alone in in our smelly days.

Got to agree! No purfumes! No scented soaps! No douching! This will cause more infection!! Wear cotton undies and change pads, tampons often. I'm perimenopausal and am going through this also. It's from bacteria, and means your immune system is low. Try some yogurt. Bring change of undies if that makes you feel better. Check with your Dr. if a RX. is needed.

Douching is the worst thing to do! It can make the infection worse. This can lead to bigger issues with your cervix.

Yes, it is because you have not had your period for a while. One of the reasons we have our period is to expel what is not being used or needed in our " female parts". When this builds up, it can cause bacteria to increase the longer you do not have a period. This causes the blood to smell nasty. Your immune system gets lower from this. Eat yogurt , make sure there is not a tampon lodged in your vagina. Don't freak, it happens a lot. Change your tampons, pads often. Do not douche or use perfumes or perfumed soaps, this will make it worse. Take vitamins, drink plenty of water. Get plenty of sleep. Try to exercise and eat well. If you need to go to a Dr. for an antibiotic, don't panic!! You will be OK!! If it does not get better, definitely see a Dr. It will only get bad, if you do not take care of yourself! Good luck♡

I am 31 almost 32 and I have 3 children. My period was significantly late this month, although it's never very accurate. I have the rotting meat smell! And once I get cleaned up I don't smell it. I smelled my TP after wiping away blood and sure enough it's the blood. My blood is dark red/brown and goopy and smells like rancid need. I'm embarrassed. But I have been noticing hormonal issues, with the late period and also one arm pit has been smelling like onions! My hormones are whacked. Mixed with my late cycle I figured it was late rotting uterine lining. Thank you ladies for making me feel like I'm not alone!

I have had this same problem. I am just 30. I have seen ginos, specialists, doctors and all have said I'm fine. Normal! I said they are wrong and had tests coming out my ass but nothing! I get it with my period and after sex. While the only thing they found was A) a little thrush (everyone gets it) and B) some small cuts. The small cuts are due to my partner being ruff. They think as his sex drive is of a 15 yr old while mine is none existent. He is not a rousing me properly. While I have told my partner this is what the doctors think is creating the smell he just says it's too much hard work to turn me on. It's like defrosting a freezer. And while he says things like that I'm never gonna want it! But that's all the doctors could fine. They said its not me its him. If he took his time and showed his love properly instead of wam bam thank you mam, I wouldn't have little cuts everywhere. The smell comes from the cuts healing. As the scabs are kept soft and moist. These cuts are minute! You won't feel them, you won't see the scabs you won't even know they are there until a doctor looks using his special glasses. Oh and there is nothing you can do about it. Maybe you're partner needs a talking to. But it hasn't helped mine. He say it's just another excuse not to give him sex. (And yes I am totally aware he is male shovanistic pig with a lack of respect!!!! But this isn't who he has always been. After having his kids he changed!!) hope this helps.

Baby powder is linked to cervical cancer. Don't use it down there. Smell is probably normal part of perimenopause.
