My 15 month old son has been having what appears to be sand in his stools for approx 2 - 3 weeks. He has not been to the beach in 3 weeks.
I do not know if ths is anything to worry about or is it normal for children. Will it damage his bowel if it is sand

We have had the same problem. Our son is 21 mos old. Our doctor has checked the stool for everything (blood, parasites, etc) and cannot come up with anything.

While it doesn't seem serious and hasn't affected his mood, we are worried.

He got it about a month ago, and it is like the color and texture of dark sand. That is exactly how I described it to the doctor.

So far no cause identified.

Have your son tested for Celiac's disease. The same thing happened to me and I tested positive for Celiac's and since I have avoided foods with gluten I have not had any more problems with this.

Hope this helps!
