I'm leaning towards the gas/constipation theory. At least for me. The pain was pretty bad and it only began to happen during sex (vaginal) when we were.. at a certain angle. I don't feel like I have been constipated, though I am a gassy girl and tend to hold it in anyway. The vag and rectum are only separated by so much body tissue, so it makes perfect sense to me it could be affected by sex. It was a sharp discomfort, only in my rectal area, but it did feel like really bad gas to me. I told my hubby that it felt like my colon had tied a knot down there.
Anyway, after writhing in pain for about 15 minutes, trying to roll around and stretch my lower abdomen to maybe move things around (and I -could- feel air and stuff moving around, it was weird), I managed to pull myself up and hunch-walk to the restroom where I did pass a decent stream of gas and only some stool.. No blood, no unusual fluids or smells, no weird colored poo. I did NOT bear down to do either one because I was afraid it'd cause more pain.. I let it naturally come out by relaxing. I felt sore but almost immediately better, which was actually a huge relief to me, knowing that it was directly affected by gas and all I needed to do was fart..

I woke up this morning and I'm still sore in the area (and after having my 35+ pound 4 year old climb on me this morning, I've learned it's very tender to pressure

I also still feel like there's a little gas bubble hanging out down there.. I took some ibuprofen and decided from here on out to not hold in gas as much, maybe increase my fiber intake, drink more water. I've been bearing down from time to time to keep as much gas out of me as possible, and it's not hurting me.. just sore like a pulled muscle. This is the first time the pain was ever that intense and carried on til morning, but I had been feeling these same symptoms at a much lower level every once in a while.. I guess it's possible that the gas in my rectum could be pressing on something; a cyst or nerve or some kind of mass that I don't know about yet. But I dunno.. I'm thinking I'm just a gassy person that needs to quit eating at 11pm.
Hope this helps someone.

Sorry for breaking this up into like 3 posts.. I realized that using emojis cut my posts off. lol my bad..

All these descriptions sound like what I have been told is proctalgia fugax, a severe episodic pain due to muscle spasms in the rectal area. I have had a few bouts of this in my life, and they can occur after orgasm (men can actually experience erections during the episode). The pain can be so bad it will drop you to your knees and sometimes cause vomiting. The only way to get rid of the pain is to relieve the spasm, and for me that has always been accomplished by taking a hot (really hot) bath. So far, it has worked every time. In terms of pain I have experienced, I would rank it No. 2 (no pun intended), urinary pain associated with kidney stones being No. 1 (no pun intended again). Frequent recurrence of the spasms would be something your doctor would have to look into to determine the cause. My few bouts have always gone away on their own, and I have not been diagnosed with any lower GI problems.

Yes. I have been having the same symptoms. I think it is a virus because I am running a temperature of 100. It is extremely painful! I started eating frozen cranberries, drinking cranberry juice, coconut milk, and taking gas- x. All theses seem to help. My abdomen was so swollen that I thought it was going to explode! And I usually have flat abs. It felt like labor pains. I read that cranberries and coconut milk have anti inflammatory and anti bacterial properties, so you heal faster.

That is exactly what is it. When you have sex and you're "built up" anal or vaginal you can cause your body to cramp and abdomen cramps are common with constipation and the rectum is for the obvious reasons lol. If you go get some stool softener it'll go away after you "release" Hope this helped.

It is most likely, just gas. I had the same problem and upon visiting a lot of doctors, one finally showed me a scan where my body was full of gas. Try taking anything that gets rid of gas before sex. Sometimes, when the man is doing his thing, he might push air up there. And having nowhere to go for a while, it can get very painful.

i read all of these and i had the same exact pain, I've had a cyst burst and it definitely feels different so was researching what else it could be. Ive had this before after sex but never this bad, but i have definitely felt similar pain which is why I didn't go to the ER. I read one or two saying its gas AND/OR fecal matter shooting back up and i definitely think this might be it as the pain actually feels like its moving when its at its worst and comes and goes in excruciating bursts. It hurts so bad and feels like someone is stabbing you in your rectum, but I'm guessing that it is just gas. So if it comes and goes and doesn't get worse but gets better I'm going to guess its just gas, save yourself an ER trip and a lot of money and grief.

Hi you guys. I'm reading all these comments and thought I was alone or my organs were going to come out of my butt or something. I was in the middle of intercross changing positions and it hit me super bad. I couldn't move. I was laying on my back. I tried getting up and it was killing me. I had to literally roll myself off the bed and crouch to the bathroom. As I sat I was getting pains in my lower abdomen and rectal passage way. I felt gassy, but nothing came out. I felt the urge to push, but couldn't. I tried sitting up straight and I got spasms. I then had the urge to use the toilet and as I pushed the pain grew and was excruciating. I couldn't catch my breathe. I finally used the toilet while having the pain. I came to lay down. As I'm laying down on my back I still feel pains in my abdomen, slightly. I've been reading. It could be a cyst in your uterus, or Pelvic Inflammatory, Endometriosis, Tubal Ligation Syndrome. So all of these things have common effects on your body. But I have also been seeing blood in my urine. I have a slight odor and discharge. Keep in mind I'm a super clean freak with my body and everything I touch. And I frequently have UTI's or feel I'm going to get one every time I pee. I drink nothing but water. Eat balckberries, blueberries, cranberries. I do all of the things one is suppose to do when having a UTI. But I do it every single day. And now these pains are here. I'm confused on what exactly it is. I'm going to see a Doctor next week. I'm not going to settle for meds. I'm going to throw out options that it could be. It has to be something more than just a PID. Oh and I also know that Cotton panties are the best to wear! Just a heads up.

I just experienced all of these symptoms that you have all posted here. The fifth comment down by "Ouch" is what I truly believe it is. (Sorry if too much info, but what follows is detailed science for the benefit of the women here:) My husband and I tried vaginal sex in doggie style, just a bit but we stopped because it was pushing too much on the bottom of the vagina, pounding on the rectum wall, and it was both uncomfortable and not pleasurable. So we switched to a go-to position and had no further trouble. However, about 15 min after I was in the same excruciating pain described in the original posting by "Worried_and_Hurting." So, of course, I googled it when I saw it wasn't going away and came across this page. I believe that what "Ouch" described was spot-on! What I did that cured it was simple (and gentel, I can't stress that enough, if it hurts more, you're too rough) pressure and rotations on my front lower abdomen while (very!) lightly activating my rectom as if I was pooping. (I was on the toilet, it just felt more appropriete in there.) Within a few seconds I felt a little better. The sharp pains subcided. Then I rested for a short moment and did the same thing. The pain greatly deminished. However, it didn't go away completely. I guess the gas and backup had to re-regulate itself. I took it easy for the rest of the night and had a little bit of pain here and there, but it worked for me. I hope it works for you girls too. (Not a Doctor.)

I've had had the same problem and I'm still recovering lol. Pain relievers don't seem to really help me and I would usually take two... just cut back on the sex is all I can say if you have sex daily with your boyfriend or husband. I will say that the pain is unbearable... like giving birth to a watermelon out your butt. It happens when my boyfriend and I do doggystyle. I have to deal with constipation, so that's probably the reason why. I would get some potassium in me like drink some gatorade and my boyfriend would get me to stretch and take some pain relievers... and days later it'll be gone. It sucks!
