Hey Rajeev, were you able to find a reason of your pain? It's exactly what I live through almost for 9 years. Most think it's IBS, but I'm sure is not. Regards

For those of you who suspect your problems aren't stomach acid related or organ related, consider looking up "Carnett's Sign" test, which is a simple posture test which can help diagnose if your pain is originating from your organs or from abdominal wall damage that may have been caused by physical strain. Good luck.

I've had upper abdominal pain worse on left than right for about ten years. It occurs only when I fall asleep, either at night or a daytime nap. Like others, I have had every test known to man but no results. Doctors in my area have called me a liar, drug seeker, or mental case. I am exhausted from lack of sleep and irritable and anxious because of unbearable pain and lack of sleep, so I do get cranky when doctors tell me this is all in my head and use unkind humor and ridicule. Pain meds do not help the pain and make the situation worse because they are constipating. My sympathies are with all of you who are in this dilemma and can't find help. N

This is the exact issue I am having. In June 2020 I woke up about 3am with extreme pain in the center of my upper abdomen right below my sternum. I took antacids and nothing. I couldn’t lay down, sit up or do anything to relieve the pain. It doesn’t move around or anything. I went to the ER and they did their test and they said I was having a heart attack and was taken to the Cath lab and I did get a stent for a clogged artery... Now...
The problem continues and I have now had a second stress test, etc and they are seeing no issues with my heart. I keep saying I think the issues I am having luckily ended up finding the clogged artery.
I continue to get this pain and it’s always after a few hours of sleep, same position of pain every time. Sometimes I will get a sudden onset of nausea and will run to the bathroom and vomit. This usually will make the pain even worse. Along with the pain I get an ache the follows the bottom area of my rib cage and it seems it goes straight through my abdomen into the center of my back. I now take Pepcid and Protonix as a daily regime and the situation is getting more frequent again and it landed me back in the ER lastnight. It took numerous IV medications including morphine to relieve the pain.. I was told to increase meds to twice a day. I will mention my family doc had an ultrasound of my gallbladder done and it showed a small polyp and wall thickening. They however do not think that’s the issue...
Well here I am up again with pain, and why I am writing this... If someone gets answers, please let us know. I feel like I’m losing my mind with such unbearable pain that I can’t get relief from and the following day I’m completely drained..

Force eat two bites of dry bread. However, a snack bag of potato chips once every two hours seams to stop the pain for two hours at a time throughout the night.

I'm almost certain it's IBS. It can cause stomach cramping and diarrhea or constipation. Taking a warm bath can help with this or even taking pantroprazol has showed to decrease IBS symptoms.
