I'm experiencing sharp upper back pain right now, and this is the second time in a month I've experienced such pain. I'm a 22 yr old male in good health, only slightly overweight. This pain is sharp, intermittent (I have a few seconds of sharp pain, then anywhere from a few more seconds to a few minutes of no pain), last for an hour or so, and starts late at night (it's 11:30 as I post this and I've been having this pain since  10:30).

The pain is most concentrated in my back, on both sides, I would say below my shoulder blades. It feels like pain right in my ribs, and feels like it radiates down to my upper abdomen. I only feel the pain in my back, and only feel pain, no nausea or whatever. Last time I had this pain, it went away after an hour or so, and didn't experience any residual pain. It just comes on suddenly like it just came on a half hour ago. The pain does feel slightly less when I burp or drink water, though that means I have to keep drinking water which is making me go to the bathroom. It doesn't hurt to urinate though.

Since it just went away last time, I didn't give it much thought, but now that it's happening again, I'm starting to wonder what it is. Does anyone here have an idea what might be causing the pain? I did have really greasy pizza this weekend and today what I had to eat was fried rice with chicken and a lot of sauce for lunch, then rice again with meat for dinner. It doesn't feel serious enough to go to a doctor, but should I see a doctor? Does anyone know what it might be? I think it might be connected to the food I ate, but I'm not really sure.

Just wanted to add that it's 12:20 now and the pain has passed. Just like last time, the pain lasted for over an hour, then just stopped.
