I was wondering if anyone had been diagnosed with either chronic or acute pancreatitis?  It is difficult to diagnose unless you also have vomiting which I do not. It can produce the pain described plus difficulty digesting things, weight loss, abdominal swelling, and diarrhea.  Even children can get it ie it does not require alcohol consumption though that will make it worse as will eating fatty foods.

Hi All,

I have the similar pain,  almost a year ago i was diagnosed with Acid reflex.

I also had stress related issues.  after taking omeprezole this got better.

stress was caused by thinkng somrthing was wrong with my body.

Hopefully this is nothing but Acid reflux and we think too much and complicate it to more

stress related issue.

I, too, have these symptoms and have had them for a month or two. I was almost disappointed to read that appendicitis pain is in the lower-right area as my pain is on the left of my bb. I'm aware of it in the evenings when I'm sitting down a lot. 'Guess I'll make a doctor appointment.......I sure hope we can find out where this pain comes from and what to do about it. (post-menopausal woman in NM)

Hi, Have you had any luck with a diagnosis? My son (11 years old)has had 3 episodes since Dec 2012. Severe, spasmodic abdominal pain above belly button on left hand side. First 2 episodes with severe vomiting.Diagnosed as men's enteric amenities. This time no vomiting, but the longest lasting at 3 weeks and counting.they've done, blood, urine and stool tests. Ultrasounds, x-Rays, MRI, Endonoscopy and even an EEG. Everything comes back clear or normal! Been to Loma Linda too. They admitted my son because of severe pain. When they couldn't find anything they referred us to pain management. 2 weeks later and no appointment in sight. Went to CHOC . They are repeating endonoscopy and doing a colonoscopy, but suggest we see a psychologist. I really don't think this is a psychological issue. Have you had any luck with a diagnosis? When my son has these episodes he literally can't function. He is a straight A, well liked, extremely athletic kid! All help appreciated .

I have had all these symptoms too plus a diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and ffibromyagia diagnosis at OHSU in 2006. Now a 10 yrs study complete and these pains and diagnosis are red flags for Celliac Disease. Gluten intolerant, unable to digest. Something about the thyroid attacking immune system and the small intestine lining is getting destroyed. It's autoimmune disorder. Addressing the Gluten free diet should bring relief with in 2 weeks noticeable difference at 100% no gluten. Try it 30 days and see how great you feel! !

I too started this odd pain at 45 years of age, healthy with no past health issues.  I had somehow got pneumonia around the end of October; my symptoms were fever and constant headaches, enough to make me throw up.  Believe it or not, no cold or cough! On the 3 of November I started antibiotics called Riva-Azithromycin for 5 days (that work apparently for 10 days).  I was pretty weak and it took the 10 days before I felt my energy come back.  But oddly enough around the 8 days after taking the medicine I started feeling a "poky" burning sensation (tolerable short lived pain)1 inch left of my belly button when I bend over and a couple of days later cramps and diarrhea for 2 hours. Now the 18th of November 4 days later and it is not as bad but still there when I bend over.. I can only imagine it is the after effects from the antibiotic and bacteria (or virus) that I contracted.  I will not be going to the doctor for this though unless it gets worst.  Now fortunately because of the bad headaches I had before knowing it was pneumonia the hospital performed a CT scan and found an abnormality in my brain so I will deal with this before worrying to much about my belly button pain.  Wish me luck!

Hey I have had this for a few days now! However I thought mine was related to the complications in a naval piercing I got approximately 4 months ago! But what baffled me was the piercings had massive improvement! Could it still be muscle strain? At my belly bar often sticks to my skin preventing it from moving with my natural body movement with blood or a puss kind of thing recently?

Hi all,

Even I have been experiencing a similar pain (in one exact spot which is towards the left of my navel, about an inch diagonally down). I went for ultrasound, but the results say everything is normal. I do not know what to do. It generally occurs when I try to run or walk really fast for long. Anybody found a solution? Will be really helpful. Thanks so much!

These were my symptoms when I had H. Pylori. Go get your blood checked for it. Good luck!

Hello.. Where can I find more info about this. My daughter is 11....same exact description as the hundreds before this one....all test are normal. I tried ,massaging her stomach four days ago during the last attack and not thirty minutes later she was back to normal. Usually she throws up all night and ends up sleeping many hours straight and then wakes normal. Please help me locate the details about massage techniques for this issue.......
