So what was wrong with you? As i have same symptoms
Hypothyroidism is most commonly caused by Hashimotos disease. In that case, your immune system is attacking your thyroid. This causes inflammation (swelling) known as a goiter. You may not visibly notice it, but if you feel hoarse all the time or like something is in your throat, you probably have an enlarged thyroid.
I too would like to ask Dawn how she got thyroid symptoms under control.
If you found out from her or if you have more suggestions please reply. Doctors are oblivious sometimes....lol

Everything I have read has said thyroid tests are not that reliable. I had a primary care doctor test me three times. He said my TSH was perfect at 9.Two endocrinolgists said they start treating at 7. One of the endrinologists started treating me for hypothroid and I have been fine for years. I moved out of state and started getting high blood pressure and breathless. My new Doctor has increased my levoxylthyrine from .50 to .75 and I hope this will help. My advice to all is to find a good endricrinologist or internal med specialist.
I am 46 years old female who was diagnosed hypo 3 years ago. I get hyper symptoms despite having a high TSH. I get shortness of breath when my medications is too high around 100mcg per day. The lump is not your throat is likely to be globus pharyngeous. It is quite common. I got is when my medicaiton was too low and took me about a year to get rid of it. it is usually linked to feeling stressed. I get it very occasionally when I feel stressed.
This is exactly how I feel. It's horrible. Mixed symptoms of hypo & hyper. Tests show I'm hypo. I have anxiety everyday, can't sleep, sometimes I wake up with a racing heart.
During the day I'm short of breath and tired.
There has to be a way to fix this!!!

My daughter has Hashimotos. Shes 15 now. She was diagnosed about 2 yrs ago. She keeps experiencing shortness of breath, pains in the front part of her neck, and just ever so often. Maybe once every month or 2. I have took her to several drs, ERs, had ultrasound performed, regular blood tests, etc...NO ANSWERS! Her thyroid isnt protruding from her neck anymore since on levothyroxine 100mcg po q.d. for about 6 mnths now.
Has this happened to u? I dont know what to do! Im momma. I am supposed to make things better. I act like its not a big deal to her when episodes occur. BUT ITS KILLING ME TO WATCH MY BABY SUFFER!
PLEASE RESPOND--ANY1 WITH ANSWERS!

I only have half my thyroid...but when my TSH goes above 4 It seems to swell become tender and sometimes get choked...I am a 7.8 right now and feeling terrible.
I experience every single thing that you're going through, it get frustrating at times.
I felt kind of bad. Told the doc I'm just not quite right. They said I was hyperthyroid. Took the whole thing out. The vocal cord on my right side now doesn't work and it is very hard to talk.
I have been through a very rough time. My medicine is non-generic because the generic did not work for me. The level is 200. I always have mucus in the back of my throat and I can't get it out without great difficulty. When I do it just come right back. If I'm laying down or even have my head turned to the right I can't swallow. Often I can't even swallow the snot in the back of my throat. I also have a post nasal drip. So, when I do something as simple as carry my groceries up one flight of stairs I can't breath and have to take a break.
Because of this I quit taking the pain pill I used to take. This led to me having 4 more surgeries. 1 for the arthritis in my elbow, 1 for a torn rotator cuff and the tendon next to it, 1 to remove my gall bladder and the big one was my back. I had a vertebrae that slipped half way into my spine then twist a little wedging it in. They went in through a 10 inch hole in my belly did that side then flipped me over and put three 6 inch holed in my back to make it straight. I now have lots of hardware in my back. It still hurts. All this in about 3.5 years.
I'm tired all the time, have trouble breathing and still can't sleep at night. I work at least 6 days a week 9 to 10 hours a day except for Saturday, that is usually 6 or 8 hours. when I get home I do almost nothing. I quit cooking and cleaning. I can't stand to live like this much longer.
I simply go to work so I can go home so I can go back to work. OH, and don't forget pay the doctor bills. WOW!
I'm sorry so may others are going through this too but at the same time I'm (I guess) glad to know I'm not the only one.
Thank you all for your messages and thank you for letting me vent.

I was off my Synthroid for 6 weeks and two weeks in I began experiencing shortness of breath, abdominal swelling, puffy eyes and face. I get so sick when I'm not taking my Synthroid. I've been back on Synthroid a week today and although I'm beginning to feel better, I'm still having some shortness of breath and abdominal swelling (both worse on exertion...such as chores around the house.) I'm beginning to worry. I am a smoker. This wasn't a gradual thing tho, it started AFTER I stopped the Synthroid...which btw will NEVER happen again!
yes. it happened to me. this though is an induction which doctors for good reason don't like. so all I can say is maybe and that it absolutely happened to me. when you're hypo your body cannot clear toxins in your body so well. poor absoprtion of fats (whoch you should eat), toxins (which you should avoid) and a slow metabolism and bang, fatty liver. Get tested and sort it out.
Great post. Good info! I am having same symptoms you describe and will definitely have my Dr. check Reverse T3, antibodies and suggest I take Armour. I have been on Synthroid for years with no help! Thank you!
