Hi, Im hoping someone might be able to provide some insight into some sinus issues i have been suffering with for some time. 2 years ago after suffering with a bad cold i took a long flight from England to Bangkok. The next day i started to feel what i believed to be an ear infection which i was medicated for yet the pain persisted and i would suffer ear pain as well as pain around the side and back of my head. My whole face felt swollen and after a month or so and a trip to an ENT specialist i was placed on a augmentin and decongestants. The pain persisted for around 4 months but then after a trip to the beach and getting very badly sunburnt the pain disappeared as fast as it had come. Being very relieved with this i was quick to say this was one of the worst experiences i have ever had and prayed it never happened again.
Unfortunately last November i was in New York suffering from a cold and again had booked a flight to Bangkok. I couldn't change the flight and had no choice but to proceed and hope for the best. 48 hours after arriving my ear pain started again and the same symptoms arose. It is now the end of May and the pain has got worse and worse i am suffering from a feeling of pressure in my head like it wants to explode, temple pain, pain at the bridge of my nose, the sinuses around my nose feel like they are permanently on fire and occasionally severe headaches. I wake up every morning feeling like i am hungover and it takes hours to feel anything approaching normal and recently am now been getting blurred vision and suffering from dizzy spells.
Over the last few weeks i have made a conscious effort to fix the issue so i have yet again been to an ENT specialist and had an MRI, CT scan and blood tests done. All of these have come back clear although there was an obvious swelling of my Sinuses which showed up on the CT scan. The doctors have no other medical advice aside from "at least you don't have cancer" and "sleep with your socks on". I have tried nasal spray (steroid and not), augmentin, decongestants, anti allergy tablets and it seems now i have no where to turn and i am having to prescribe myself a mix of Codine to get through the day and Xanax to sleep at night.
Im hoping someone might have suffered a similar sort of issue and has some advice of what to do next as there is no end in sight.
Thanks for your time
Ian
