My Mirena IUD was removed in October of 2008, after being placed in January of 2007. Once the IUD was removed, my periods came on the 13/14 day of the month for November, December, January, then in February my period came on the 18/19th of April, then on the 27th of March. I have not gotten my period since March 27th, and have taken a pregnancy test in a doctor's office/clinic setting, and two Clear Blue Easy digital tests this past week.

Other than my face going into hyperactive oil-production overdrive a few days ago(which isn't normal for me at all)-then stopping-I have had no real signs of hormone changes, have had no cramps, no symptoms that I normally associate with my period coming on.

We were told that it would take a few months for the hormones released by the IUD to work out of my system and it has been 7 months since it was removed. My husband and I have been trying for a baby and are starting to wonder if we'll get lucky at all. My OB said to wait for a year and if it doesn't happen within the year we would need to see if something is wrong, but my period starting to go out of whack so dramatically worries me as well.

I know that it seems a little disheartening right now but I think that your OB is right. I have heard with IUDs that your body's hormones take some time to recover so be patient. I know that's hard when you want to conceive because there's no greater joy than having a baby, but you'll have to bear with. I think that you and your husband should take heart and keep your chins up. I think that after a year goes by, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Either way, keep us posted! I'm curious to hear how things go with you.
