I was leaving the school grounds from just having dropped my son off and a school bus cut me off and left himself sticking out in my way so I was pretty much just sitting there on my motorcycle when another school bus comes out from behind the first one and slams into me.

I remember my neck and head slapping back and forth HARD but the next day, my left arm was in serious pain and unwilling to be moved. It lasted a day and a half and then was gone.

I was sent for an arthogram and it showed a tear and the doctor said I should have it fixed now because if I didn't, I would have big problems out of the arm when I got older and arthritis set in so we set the date for the surgery. Then the hospital cancelled it for fear of not getting paid and an entire year went by.

In this entire year, I had ZERO issues or pain from this arm and tear.  (Just more and far worse pain in the  upper back and neck)  Now that I had the surgery, far from it!  Umpteen weeks of physical therapy, the last few which felt like he was ripping my arm off of my body and bringing me to tears and begging him to stop and NO changes.  Most days, I can barely get my harm to anything above chest level and the pain is just ridiculous. I go back to this doctor and express my pain and concern and the SOB is only bothered by my continued need for the painkillers that he was weaning me off of by lowering the dosage! My very last visit to him resulted in my apparently making him mad (He took my hand and I thought he was going to yank it as he had done to someone else I know so I asked him to please not). He stated he hadn't had any of reaction to that type of surgery on anyone else and that redheads develop more scar tissue than others, ordered an MRI and told me to come back for the results. Instead of wasting gas money and time for a trip consisting of 45 minutes each way for a 10 minute visit, I asked for the results over the phone and was told they were negative of any new tears or anything of the sort and I've never heard from them again.

I just do NOT understand how and why this turned out this way adding insult to a cervical fusion of C5-6 in the way of two new herniations and this ruined shoulder that I can barely use along with a lawyer who was all too happy to take 30k of my settlement while I got 10 and a doctor who apparently could care less that he ruined my shoulder.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Hello there, medicalmess808.

From your post it's obvious that something gone wrong. Did you try to get other opinion, from some other doctor?

Argument that he hadn't had any similar reaction from other patient isn't very professional. Did you met any of them and shared each others experience? Maybe some of them can help you. From them you can get a priceless advises about post-operative period, what they do, which medication they used, is there any exercises you also should do, etc.

What MRI showed about your shoulder? You said it that there are no new tears, but what about the old one? Did it heal properly?

Everything got dropped because of the torte law claim which could be up to 125k and no more. If we had kept going, I would have ended up owing instead of them.
I did everything as I was told from not using my arm at all and keeping it in the sling for 8 weeks, beginning the therapy, etc. None of it mattered.
I needed that vocational test they do after injuries to determine what you can and cannot do but that didn't get done. I apply for jobs knowing full well I won't be able to do the work without alot of pain but don't get hired anyway.
SSI thinks I can do the only thing in my work history that was sedentary and that was one year of substitute teacher but I know that is out because of getting bumped into or kids wanting to yank on you to get your attention, etc.
I've got the one lady that was operated on by the same doctor that I can go talk to but other than that, other opinions and clients of his would be patient privacy policies. I couldn't even get anyone in the office to tell me what became of the nurse who hung the MRI of my neck up and turned green but then took it down real quick citing that I was there about my shoulder and not my neck. I brought it up to the doctor and another nurse and everyone acted like they didn't know what I was talking about.
The whole year before the surgery finally happened, I was being continued on the painkiller that I was given because of a work injury the year prior to this incident that hadn't been finished up yet and this shoulder guy did everything he could do to end my use of them despite my horrible pain in my neck that he wouldn't address because I was sent there to have the shoulder looked at. When he finally did order a new MRI for my neck, there were two new herniations above and below my fusion but he said they weren't surgery worthy and he still wouldn't give me anything for the pain AND admonished me for taking what he was giving me for my shoulder to treat my neck as tho the pill would only work on what it was prescribed for. Ridiculous. The guy is in his mid to late 70's if I had to guess and probably close to retiring.
I'm trying to decide if I should have my lawyer try to prove some kind of malpractice or something.
