I am 35 years old as of March 1st, 5 foot 2 inches and weighed 166 lbs. Three weeks prior I was getting pains in my stomach as if my stomach was ripping itself apart, later it moved into my esophagus area, below my sternum and really bad between my shoulder blades. Off and on nausea.
No vomiting, no major stomach pain, healthy bowel movements.
On my birthday a few days ago, my doctor calls and diagnosed me with SMAS based on the CT scan with contrast I had just done.

After reading everything, I couldn't find information that correlated my symptoms to those with SMAS.

I have lost 15 lbs, mainly because I get full pretty quickly and don't eat as much and have some nausea off and on.

Is anyone out there similar to me?
I am technically overweight (average), no vomiting, and back and below sternum pain???

Im sorry your daughter was diagnosed with this. After 2 years of being sick, numerous ER visits, watching my teen go from an outgoing sports active young girl to lying in bed all the time we finally found a Pediatric Heart Dr that did a test that showed SMA and after 3 years she is finally doing well. Her Dr immediately put in her a feeding tube, ended up having 8 of them, thru the nose, it was horrible, we did home schooling bec of how mean kids are, cases of ensure that we both hope we never smell again lol and then the Mayo Hospital bec even when she was able to gain a little weight and her slant was better she was still experiencing pain. So the SMA had caused her to have Auto Immune Dysfunction as well. Finding the reason, SMA, for the pain was still no small hill to climb to make her well but at least it was something to call what she had rather then being told there was no reason for her to be screaming in pain. She is almost 19 now and doing wonderful, I pray your daughter is too!
