Do you guys think any Doctor is going to give a thumbs up to SMOKING anything after heart procedure? Ask if you can vape or use edibles, maybe you will get an answer.

I asked my doc and he said no way, mamajuana in any form has a direct impact on your heart rhythm and it could through you into afib. I know, it sucks! no caffeine, no weed, no booze.

They always say that sh*t but if you were doing it before and didn’t notice anything too bad, why not? Especially it it’s WPW and you’ve already had it fixed. I don’t know either, the RN and doctor of mine didn’t make it sound like it’d make much of a difference after the ablation.

I'm in NY and had one yesterday. My doc who is young and hip said just wait a couple of days. He knows I have PTSD and how much it relieves my symptoms. He's an excellent cardiologist and ablations are his specialty.

I’ve been vaping and having edibles for years and my afib kept getting worse and worse to the point it was almost every day often lasting all day or night. I was nervous about the procedure and tried several things prior to getting the cryoablation including eating clean, no weed and no alcohol or caffeine. I was still having the afib so got the ablation in feb 2022. It’s been much better, but was still having some weird beats here and there but eas told not abnormal right after the procedure as the scar tissue forms. About a week after I was feeling better than I had in a while so opted for a small edible. Best part about a hiatus is the tolerance reset. I kinda got back to daily use of vape with occasional edible. Nice weather last weekend so got a nice vibe going and hit some yard work pretty hard— push mowing, pulling heavy can of clippings up steep hill to compost pile, digging out some old shrubs, etc. I felt my heart really going and opted to take a break and check it using my Kardia. I was tachycardia so I got some water and chilled on the couch about 15-20 and focused on my breathing— trying to calm it down but it stayed around 120-125bpm so I opted for a diltiazem left over from before my surgery. It eventually came down but was kinda high the rest of the night around 100-101. Woke up back to normal, but when I take a brisk walk or go up a flight of stairs, something isn’t feeling quite right. Earlier today after short walk didn’t feel right and Kardia reading said sinus rhythm with wide QRS.

Man, I enjoy the weed, it helps me sleep by slowing the racing thoughts in my brain mostly about work and all the c**p I still need to do— and often if I dose appropriately helps me focus as I can’t even attempt multitasking high— so staying single threaded seems to help productivity unless I have too much and either get tired or just tell myself the work will still be there later and take a break.

As much as I love it for those reasons and others, I feel like I need to break for a bit since my heart isn’t feeling 100% and don’t want to add variables or possibly compound any potential issues. If I don’t “baseline” by quitting its hard to tell if the feelings are possibly being induced by the daily canna use. I quit for about 30 days when I had afib to see if it helped but it didn’t— so figured it must not be the cause of the afib, so I started again after the surgery but sadly going to give it a rest for the near term.

I would say probably best to give it at least a 3mo break if you’re still having any heart weird beats etc after the surgery. If you’re feeling fantastic, probably fine to partake, especially if it helps with other issues.

Best answer I can give is its probably not best I just had an ablation about 2 days ago and just smoked about 3 hours ago and I've had palpitations ever since but not into A fib so it's definitely a little uncomfortable but nothing too extreme !but smoking will always get your heart going so it's best to take it easy.Hope to help yall with a personal experience!

Instead of asking strangers why don't you ask person who performed procedure?
