I am heavy and 60 years old. I have this same problem. The doctor says that it is due to the thinning of the skin as we age. I have found the magic bullet. I shower, dry off well, and then apply Desitin and then on top of the Desitin, I apply a small amt of peppermint oil. It also helps in the groin area where I get raw. Boy, Does it feel good.

I feel compelled to share. I have had pain sitting for alimony four years now following he birth of my son. Also pain while pooping. It was diagnosed as an anal fissur and onc I knew that and tried to heal it, things improve do some. But still pain sitting. Recently I was diagnosed with lechin sclerosus and I believe some of the posters to this thread may have is condition. I have been applying bag balm (for cows udders) for about a month and am sitting without pain for the first time in 4 years. We recently took a car trip that was a 3 hour drive which would have been agony, except it wasn't! Bag balm is like Vaseline mixed with lanolin. It has some anti fungal properties and is intensely moisturizing. Not to be dramatic but it changed my life.

If the problem is severe, use Dakin's solution that you make. I take 1 teaspoon of bleach and mix it with 10 teaspoons of distilled water. Mix 1/16 teaspoon of baking soda to it. Apply that to the area by soaking an eighth of a cotton ball in it, then squishing it long and flat and place it against the area.

For those running off screaming, "BLEACH ON MY SKIN!" Bleach, in the form of Dakin's solution has been used successfully for many years. It had a big surge of popularity after WW2. If 1 to 10 doesn't seem right to you, try 1 to 20 parts water. It works. The baking soda should be a very small amount. You can use 1/32 teaspoon if you'd like.

Place a wad of toilet paper over your butt hole so it doesn't get irritated by the liquid. Set the timer and let it stay there for 20 minutes. Next, take Apple Cider Vinegar with mother (unfiltered ACV) and mix it 50/50 with distilled water. Apply this to the area. It will really sting (particularly if it is an open wound at this point). Dry it with a hair drier.

Next part is what you do even if it isn't really bad. You'll have to buy quite a few things... but you've had this problem a long time and it won't go away, right? Buy Redmond Clay (Bentonite will do). and put 1 teaspoon of it in a suitable container you get at a dollar store (throw away original contents) that's 1 1/4" around x 1" tall.

To the clay add 5 drops of Sage Oil, 10 drops of Jojoba Oil (closest to human sebum as it isn't really an oil, but a wax) and 4 drops of Manuka Oil. Add 1/2 inch of Desitin Extra Strength ointment. Add 5 drops melted (room temperature if your room is above 70) coconut oil. Mix with a suitable spatula. I use a kitchen knife.

That's it. Just keep doing the Dakin's solution/ACV/blow drying for the first couple weeks until it's under control, Always use the ointment. Once it is gone, keep the area free from the problem by mixing the same Redmond Clay ointment minus the st strong Sage and Manuka Oils (keep the Jojoba oil).

Take photos of the area so you can see the progression. In a week, it should be much better. In two weeks it should be very much better. In three it should be gone.

After the first week, or so, pepper the area with a powder taken from a capsule of good quality "Multidophilus 12" which has 12 strains of bacteria which encourages good colon health. Take one capsule per-day.

The problem is antibiotics, generally. Also, a high-starch, high sugar diet. Stop using wheat flour. Stop using sugar. Stop drinking alcohol.

Yeast is growing on your body, a type called "Candida Albicans" (could be mixed with other Candida Strains). It has a hyphal form (fungal) which sends out roots and takes residence. yeast is not just a woman's problem. Moisture is how it starts, sweat, camping, hiking with restricted clothing, swimming in ponds or rivers and then not drying immediately.

It, oftentimes, gets mixed with bacteria too.

Thus the multi-part solution,

An addendum. Concerning letting the Dakin's Solution stay there for 20 minutes. That's 20 minutes if it is a 1 to 20 parts solution. About 2 - 5 minutes if it is a 1 to 10 parts solution. Bleach can dissolve skin, and is part of how it will get rid of the buildups of dead skin which comprise the edges of fissure. You want the bleach to kill the stuff, removing the dead skin, until you end up with only healthy skin.

Thus, the fact that bleach removes skin is all part of the solution. However, you don't want to overdo the bleach or it will burn the skin.

If you don't want to use bleach, use 91% alcohol (ouch, but works) or just use the 50/50 ACV. However, bleach works. Just be careful with it and vary the amount of time you leave it on. Also, always use the ACV to stop the action of the bleach afterwards. Bleach is alkaline, ACV is acid. It neutralizes the bleach to keep it from burning you. At the very least, make sure you wash the area, then dry it well afterwards.

There is no warning about the clay mixture. It will always be safe no matter what you do or how much you use it. Only warning, there, would be, "Don't continually use any antibiotic (which is what I'd call the Sage/Manuka Oil) or you might create super-yeast strains that can't be killed by anything.

I said Sage Oil plus Manuka because they don't seem to be as caustic, and burn you, as oils such as Tea Tree and Oregano can do.

One last addendum... Sage Oil should be 100% sage oil. Same with Manuka Oil.

Be careful. Companies like to say things like "100% Natural, Pure and Therapeutic Grade". That does NOT mean it is 100% of that type of oil. They are, generally, mixed with Olive Oil and have very little of the original oil in them.

It should not say '100% PURE" it should say 100% of that oil. When in doubt, ask them, "Is it 100% of that oil with no other 'carrier oil', or are you 100% lying to me?"

If it says, "For aromatherapy", go somewhere else. It will be little-to-none of that oil in the product. 100% oils are 100% of that oil and nothing else.

I get my Manuka oil directly from India. As with anything, research well first. Go to your local health food store and realize that, even they, are lying to you (oftentimes because they've swallowed the hook-line-and-sinker of the liars.

Jojoba oil is also great for crows-feet, face wrinkles, etc. I use it as its own 'carrier oil' as I also use 'Extra Virgin Coconut Oil'.

"Buyer beware".

Actually, those are all caused by different kinds of fungi or yeast. Foot fungus is a type of 'tinea', jock itch is a different strain of tinea fungus (tinea pedis as athlete's feet or cruris, or something for jock itch).

Yeast (candida) is not a fungus; but can have a hyphal form (fungal) that can send out root tendrils and adhere, the reason everybody here has a recurring problem. It adheres very strongly to skin because of those roots.

"Calmoseptine" ointment worked for me. Find it in the adult diaper section at a pharmacy. My doctor recommended it and also said not to use soap or body wash to clean the area, just water. When it clears up, you can use Basis soap.
