Ive been smoking marijuana everyday since 2004. 8 days ago i decided to quit because i felt that my lungs were in not so good shape. Everyday i had the same routine. And the last part of that routine would be rolling up a blunt and smoking. I feel that the dutch/cigar paper has really messed with my body (i have smoked over 2,000 blunts in the last 5 years). Whenever I touch my lungs they are very sore. The first few days i quit it went away and now 5 days later its back worse than ever along with a lot of muscle soreness throughout my body. I understand the lung part is from smoking, but what about the other muscles in my body? will my lungs eventually feel better or close to how they did 5 years ago?

Your tissue is healing also less mucus being produced to protect your throat and nasal passages now that your a non smoker. Probably a good portion of the discomfort in your chest and ribs is produced from muscle tension caused by anxiety which is very common from long term smokers of marijuana to experience.

Smoked weed and cigarettes for 30 years. I quit smoking cigarettes 6 months ago. I continued to smoke weed daily in the evenings/after work. Although continuing to smoke weed allowed me to not smoke a single cigarette, I was still smoking.

I had a minor surgical procedure performed on my back. That evening I smoked some weed and then fainted. Because it scared me, I quit smoking weed. I also quit drinking alcohol and coffee. This was the first time in 30 years I have not smoked cigarettes or weed both. This was also my first time quitting coffee in 30 years.

I began to experience some significant chest pains, and could no longer lay in the prone position without my heart feeling like it was pounding. Unfortunately, I am a prone sleeper. I was only getting one to two hours of sleep a night.

I woke up at 2-3am on two separate occasions with chest pain and arm soreness. This prompted a trip to the emergency room. After nine hours of testing and waiting, I was told my heart was in excellent condition, and that I had not suffered any sort of cardiac arrest. I was told I had a 3% chance of having a heart attack which was considered very healthy for a 48 year old man at my weight.

Sleeplessness and anxiety continued for approximately 2 1/2 weeks. I purchased a blood pressure device to monitor daily. It was giving me readings that were extremely high which did not help with the anxiety. So I sought further medical attention. My doctor had several EKGs and even a stress echocardiogram performed. All came back clear and indicated my heart was healthy and working properly. They did start me on 10mg Lysiniprol.

Now, about five weeks afterward, I realize the chest pains I was feeling were most likely associated with quitting smoking/drinking/coffee abruptly. I still do not feel “normal”, but know that the lifestyle choices I have adopted are adding years to my life. I seem to be getting better every day and wanted to share this experience so others who may feel this way know they are not alone. Too bad marijuana is illegal and a schedule I drug as it could be studied/understood much but more.
