Sore throat won't go away

It is a growth pushing on your vocal cords, I know because I had it. The growth has to be removed by surgery. Good Luck.

I also have had the same symptoms.  Started with a really bad case of the flu, followed by Pneumonia, and ended with conjunctivitus.  But the sore throat won't go away.  It's progressed to what feels like large cuts on the inside of both sides of my throat.  I'm going on 2 months now. I've been treated with antibiotics for the pneumonia and the conjunctivitus, but nothing has worked for the sore throat, and now the flu has settled into bronchitis with chronic cough, that also will not go away.

I'm fatigued, and all worn out.  I don't understand why the doctors won't do some extensive lab tests to determine what it is. I feel like I'll never get over this, until it kills me. I get the feeling they know something I don't, and they aren't telling me what it is.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I have had the same thing for a year.  My eyelids are swollen and the back of my throat is red.  There are two big red scars on the back of my throat.  I have been to the doctor about my eyes and my throat.  The eye doc said I had a glandular blockage in my eyelids.  Nothing has worked for it.

Concerning my throat, I was given two rounds of antibiotics.  Nothing has helped.  I am reluctant to go back to the doctor and I am trying various home remedies.  With little success.

 

One thing that I want to mention.  I had a long battle with fatigue before all of this started.  It began after I went through one of the TSA Body Scans at the airport.  I have been rundown and tired ever since.

From November 2011 to June 2012 - 8 months! - my 7 yr old and I suffered from strep throat, trading it back and forth.  We were at the clinic every two weeks.  I had severe chills (house up to 73 degrees F and slept on floor in front of fireplace several times) and other times sweats and I'd have to change clothes at night.  We each had three rounds of antibiotics and my son had a fourth stronger dose which also didn't get rid of it, but we stopped at that not wanting to expose him to anything stronger and at that point he didn't suffer from bad symptoms.  I was cleared from strep after the third round but still suffered from illness, it just showed negative for strep.  That was a very trying and upsetting time, also thinking there was something severely wrong with us.  Saw pediatrition in June, after reading that doctors will look at removing tonsils after about 7 recurrent infections in one year.  He said around summer these infections tend to diminish, wait until August then we'd move on to a specialist.   We were both fine after that.  Who knows if related, but at the time, we were going to restaurants twice a week as I was far to tired to cook often.  After watching Marketplace recently and all the germs, including strep, found in restaurants (on the seats, on the menus), we rarely go now.  I wonder if the constant exposure to our weak immune systems was the problem.

 

Although unlikely, I like that lymphoma suggestion I read in another reply.  I, too, did some reading on that at the time.

In winter air is dry, people that sleep with their mouths open kinda chap their throats. Sounds silly but it's pretty bad. Imagine a hundred little cracked cuts in the back of your throat. Then the mucus comes to coat and messes things up more. It's a full on war till winter is over.

I've had problems with sore throat for like 10 years, it was very sensitive to cold, so drinking sodas or other cold beverages meant I was getting sick. Nothing seemed to help, the pain was deep.

I'll keep it short and just tell you what cured it for me: Arnica Montana 200ck (you need to get the 200 one and not the other ones), and White Willow Extract. You can probably get them at vitamin shop or Whole Foods Market or order online. This is homeopathic medicine so they work naturally with your body without side effects. Cost about $20 in total. Try this if you have stubborn sore throat that doesn't go away. Good luck! (I hate doctors btw)

Hi there, I have the exact same problem and I see that there are many others with it as well. I was wondering where you live. I live in Las Vegas and was wondering if the weather might be a factor. Had antibiotics twice gets almost better but then back to pain again, has been two months now.

I've had sore throat for almost 2 months. I got mine from overworking my intercostal and chest muscles doing push ups. Somehow it gave me a really bad sore throat. I went to my doctor 2 weeks after I got the injury and he gave me some medicine. It didn't really do much. What really concerns me is that I sing in a chorus. I sing first soprano, and I want my voice to be healthy. With my sore throat, I don't know what I can do to make it feel better fast. I've been drinking tea, gargling with salt water, gargling with mouth wash, soaking in mineral baths, taking vitamins, doing yoga, resting, I don't know what else to do. I do know that lemon & honey are supposed to work but I can't stand the taste of lemons, they are the number one food in the world that I hate. And unfortunately we don't have any honey in the house. No one really eats it or likes it. But I would stomach it if I had to.

I am starting to get worried about my sore throat, it is not from acid reflex, and I don't have tonsils nor adenoids. It has been hurting for about a week and a half now, I have tried multiple ways to get rid of it, it helped but it didn't stop the pain. It was horrible at first, then faded slightly; this morning I woke up and my voice was slightly lost, and now my throat is killing me. Should I go to the doctor? I am afraid it is mono, but I haven't drank after someone else or kissed anyone for this to happen.

Hpv virus of the throat or herpes both these are possible from the symptoms you describe

That is either hpv virus or herpes you treat it with anti viral drugs ACLyvoir

I've had this problem for three months. Sore with red bumps back of throat. When eat and drink it doesn't hurt. When I don't do anything it is achy. Mono, strep, std, Hiv all negative. Post nasal meds not help. Got a shot of antibiotics and took antibiotic pills neither one worked. Gargled salt water, took airborne twice a day. Nothing worked. This is the most annoying thing I've ever had. If anyone found a diagnosis let me know!

I had the same problem and was treated for Tonsillitis.

WoW, First time anyone has mentioned fungus. Spores. Mango season was upon us and I bought a case, One some how got lost in the cupboard and for weeks, I kept smelling something every time I opened the cupboard door. Long story short....
I FINALLY found the source of the odour, a well rotten mouldy, rank mango. As I realised the culprit, I cleaned out the area and immediately got very ill. It lasted for an entire month with bad lung infection, but now my sore throat is a constant niggle. Suppose Ill have to visit my gp, as Im more drawn to alternative solutions.
