I keep hearing about Sports Drinks for Cyclists. People say that they are good and that one cannot finish long or hard race without it. Is it true? Should I start using them and if so which one should I buy? I am not familiar with those drinks and know nothing about them

Sports drinks can be helpful during long and hard rides. They can provide you with carbs and electrolytes lost in sweat as well as with some minerals. I wouldn’t go that far and claim that you can’t finish long or hard race without it. People have been successfully riding bikes for decades without them. So they are not necessary but can be handy and helpful. I use them regularly. There are many brands on the market. You can’t go wrong with most of them.
