I am 25 and have this problem on a regular basis as well. I asked my gynocologist about it, and she said it is normal with low dose birth control to have this happen. She said that it's nothing to worry about as long as I am taking my pills as prescribed. She said that even though I am having some bleeding, the birth control is still preventing ovulation, and should be just as effective. If it gets really heavy, I would see your doctor though. I have been on the pill ( ortho try-cyclin Lo) for 3 years and NEVER had spotting between periods until 3 months ago, when I began very lightly spotting brown in between periods that lasted only a day or two, which is normal when ovulating. However, just one week after ending my period last month, when I am definitely not ovulating, I spotted light pink for about two days and then spotted brown for another four days after that... much longer than I have ever spotted between periods... my period is not expected for another two weeks and I have not missed a pill this month to cause a false period. Spotting for much longer than 1/2 days seems to suggest implantation bleeding, when a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus. Other possibilities are endometriosis or fibroids, but shooting pains and cramping are usually associated with those conditions. I have seen many posts on spotting for 5+ days by women said it started when they were 4-6 weeks pregnant. If you can rule out pregnancy, talk to your doctor to make sure it isn't a more serious condition.

idk if you all already found out or not but it is completely normal to spot brown blood. its just old blood that is coming out. it happens to me too and until today (i found a website ) i have been worried sick.

Okay so I'm have the same problem. Except, I actually had a miscarriage last month in October. I bleed the whole time I was pregnant to the time my miscarriage was completed. Then, they found a cyst on my ovaries. I started bleeding again shortly have they cyst was found. I bleeded for two weeks and it finally stopped this Month. 11-10. When I woke up this Morning, I went to pee and wiped and saw brownish spotting. So I don't know if it's another cysts, that has ruptured or not. I have no clue if I'm due for a period or not because since my miscarriage I don't know if the bleeding I was experiencing was from my period or the cyst. Because cysts can cause bleeding. I have already had two ultra sounds and the only thing they found was that one cyst hiding in the left. All my labs have come back normal.

Umm...I have been experiencing almost the same thing as every other girl in these comments.
But I'm not peeing it out I just kind of check my underwear and its there.
I'm on the pill for three weeks, for my skin problems, and won't get my period for another week.
I'm really scared.
I don't feel like telling my mom becuz she will freak!

I did some research because I was having the same problem. Yes, I am on birth control and got my period early with dark brown blood.
I found that this is normal because periods are frequently abnormal on birth control because it is a hormonal drug.
Also I've been experiencing some stress because of finals in school. I also found that this may be the cause of my
strange period. Also a change in diet, traveling or time changes may effect this as well.
