I began taking Seasonique two months ago. In the begining of this month my doctor put me on topiramate which I have read, makes my birth control less effective. On the 18th I had sex, not knowing my birth control wasn't working. For about a week now I've been spotting lightly. Could I be pregnant? I bought a test, but when would be the best chances of it showing if I'm pregnant?
You can find out if your pregnant after ten days of conception. It sometimes takes several days beyond the missed period before the home pregnancy test becomes positive, so you may want to repeat it. Also if your hormone levels from you birth-conrol are not high enough you can spot. Just like starting, stopping, or missing oral contraceptives or estrogens can cause your hormones to fluctuate and make you spot.
Also if you have low thyroid levels or a lot of stress can cause spotting. If you are really concerned go to your OB/Gyn office and they can do a simple blood test. I have had a history of issues with birth-conroll hormone levels and now have three boys to show for it. Good luck and done worry.
