I was just diagnosed with Biliary Dyskinesia and my gallbladder has an ejection rate of 6%. I first went to the doctor because I have constant stomach aches, so she scheduled an ultrasound that came back fine. However, since I had elevated liver enzymes, I was scheduled a HIDA scan that showed I have an ejection rate of 6% (no gallstones though). I've had stomach aches for about 8 months. Every month or two I get a really bad stomach ache but almost every day I have a mild stomach. The thing is, my stomach hurts all over and when I do get a very bad stomach aches I get diarrhea. Also, I don't have pain specificaly where my gallbladder is or my shoulders and back. I don't have any nausea, just one incident of heart burn a month ago. Because of these reasons, and the fact that I'm only 20 years old and very healthy, the surgeon thinks I might have IBS and my pain isn't from my gallbladder. He also said I can live with a dysfunctional gallbladder without it being a problem. Additionally, he said my elevated liver enzymes are bilirubin (not entirely sure what that means) and that its not a concern and most likely unrelated. I'm going to be tested for IBS in a few weeks and if I don't have it the surgeon and I will meet again and talk about what we should do. It's not that I don't trust the surgeon, but this seems strange to me. I mean, is it really possible that my gallbladder that has an ejection fraction of 6% is not causing me pain. Is it really safe to live with my gallbladder like this? Can my gallbladder be causing my pain even if I don't have all the symptoms? I'm just very confused and I want the stomach aches to stop. Thanks.
